Balancing Act
Clients’ Design Objective: To create a kitchen with a feeling of spaciousness where the clients can entertain family and friends in a warm, casual style.
The Challenge: To make the room feel larger without expanding the size of the room.
The Solution: By removing part of the wall dividing the dining room and kitchen the clients achieved the perception of more space. Additionally, wide exterior roof overhangs enabled the clients to “bump out” a two-foot-deep solarium featuring a full-light door and floor-to-ceiling windows that enhance the view of the front patio and flood the space with natural light. With a professional-style cook top, two ovens, built-in refrigerator and eclectic design, this kitchen is now the perfect gathering place for this busy, social family.
