Carlton Terrace
We conducted a full kitchen and bathroom renovation of a tired Grade A listed apartment in Edinburgh's exclusive Carlton Terrace. The apartment formed part of a former townhouse originally designed by William Henry Playfair, Scotland's most renowned nineteenth-century architect. The client wanted to completely restore the space back to its former glory as it had lost its character over the years due to various commercial uses—it formed part of a hotel in the 1920s and a nursing school for the NHS in the 1970s—before being brashly converted back to a residential property in the 1980s. Almost all of the original period features were removed.
We've created a space that is light and airy, contemporary in its appeal but nods graciously to its Georgian heritage
