CCS Project 2012 ~ Res. Condo. Renovation, Hollywood FL
[Finished] CCS Photos. This was a fun project because we took a 1960s typical 4 story Florida apartment building unit and turned it into a contemporary gem. The unit had never been improved and as you can see, still had its original kitchen cabinets, popcorn ceiling and the plastic cove kitchen ceiling that is so typical in units from that era in Florida.
The project involved gutting the entire unit; asbestos removal, floor tile removal…in short removing all the existing construction so that all was left was a grey concrete shell – see the construction pics!
We provided the 5 phases of design and construction on the 832 sq. ft. unit: Schematic Design, Design Development, Contract Documents, Permitting/Bidding and Contract Administration (Architect oversees construction) and we hired licensed engineers who we love to work with.
The owner hired a separate residential designer for furniture selection/artwork/accessories and we worked together to produce permit drawings which documented all of the designer’s finish selections. Great teamwork!
It’s rare that you’ll find an Architect who will release control of finish selection/design concept – especially when the Architect carries all the liability but we did it and had a great time because our CCS design aesthetic aligned with the designer to produce a beautiful product!
