Complementing the Green Theme
Furniture from Shandong in north east China tended to be functional rather than sophisticated in design - built to withstand the extreme winters and sweltering summers of the region. This large sideboard is a good example, with its thick, solid frames and sturdy construction. Like most northern furniture, the material used is elm wood and this has a particularly attractive 'mountain like' grain on the doors and two side panels.The finish is a rich, honey colour bringing out the beauty of the wood and looks great with our unusual Asian ornaments.
