Historic Jewel Boxes - the Monmouth Room
Reading corner, Monmouth Room. Formerly the head of the bed was where the chair is, and the space at the foot of the bed was wasted. Once the bed was turned in the other direction, a reading corner could be created, even in such a compact space as this small bedroom. The wing chair is from Hickory Chair's James River Collection, and is upholstered in a Stickley faux leather fabric, with nailhead trim. The floor lamp has a swing arm for reading, or for moving out of the way as needed. The portrait of the New Jersey officer is a pastel, and hangs on this wall where no sunlight will fall directly on it and damage it. The other print of the Battle of Monmouth Courthouse was given a new archival mat and museum glass. Bob Narod, Photographer. Design by Linda H. Bassert, Masterworks Window Fashions & Design, LLC.
