Arthur’s design has transformed our old unruly back garden into a wonderful space that’s a real pleasure to walk around and sit and enjoy. His design of eye-catching curves and terracing has completely changed the perspective of the garden. Arthur was very helpful with obtaining the selection of native plants which are continuing to bloom and will further add to the gardens beauty as they grow. Arthur has a designed beautiful garden for our property which has met all our expectations. Thoughtfully utilising the natural features and enhancing them by incorporating a series of stonewalls built from local material. Arthur made recommendations for which plants would suit, carefully made detailed plans and supervised the construction of the garden from start to completion. Arthur was available anytime we needed advice during the design and construction of the garden. We have never used a landscape designer in the past and were extremely impressed with Arthur's eye to detail, his botanical knowledge and in particular the plans delivered. We engaged Arthur to do a concept design and planting guide for an old, underdeveloped and unruly garden surrounding a country cottage. Our inclination had been to work around compromised structural elements that were already in place. Having discussed with us carefully our preferences and vision Arthur came back with a simply brilliant design - it integrated really well with the landscape and the existing buildings, was practical in terms of access, driveway etc and achievable. Although we have undertaken most of the work ourselves and by directly hiring contractors Arthur has provided ongoing support and advice that has been encouraging and useful. We then engaged him to assist with a planting guide once the major elements of the design were in place - and again his suggestions and advice were inspired, thoughtful and took account of our budget. He and Rosemary have been a real pleasure to work with.

After moving in to our new home, we had the daunting task of designing our garden. Our garden was a blank landscape with two trees and turf. We had some thoughts on the garden design which Arthur incorporated however he produced an overall concept for our garden which we would never thought about and so pleased with the end result. From the beginning Arthur was very professional in designing our garden showing meticulous attention to detail which included Scope of Work for the landscapers to easily work on quoting and execution. Also, Arthur was willing to go the extra mile in following up after the landscaping had been completed. We thank Arthur for his hard work and highly recommend his dedication and workmanship.

When we first started our planning for a major reconstruction of an old, rambling but quintessential Sydney garden on the north shore, we set out to find a designer who we felt could capture the essence of our unique setting. Set in a most beautiful Bluegum High Forest on over an acre of undulating land around 170m above sea level, we were looking to create a cool climate garden reminiscent of the classic gardens of the NSW Blue Mountains. We envisaged an eclectic mix of ornamental plants, shrubs, deciduous trees, stone walls, gravel paths and paving to compliment the existing native tree framework, however we wanted a high sense of formality and structure and an extension of our home into the garden for entertaining, relaxed living and privacy. We figured that the best place to find a cold climate designer was to look for a professional with experience and references in cold climate areas like Leura, Wentworth Falls, Mount Wilson and the NSW Southern Highlands. This was how we discovered Arthur Lathouris. Arthur brought to our project a deep knowledge of native and ornamental plantings, a connectedness to the existing with a balanced practicality for renewal, a creative passion for formality with a sense for function and design. His attention to detail and follow through was reassuring which meant that in the construction phase of the project, we experienced virtually no surprises or issues that hindered the schedule of the project.
