I had the pleasure of working with Chris and his staff at b Architecture Studio on a large residential remodel project. Their designs and drawings were always clear and precise. Chris and his staff were readily available for questions or solutions to problems throughout the project. I look forward to the opportunity of working with b Architecture Studio again.

As landscape designers, we have worked with Chris and his team on several residential projects; recently engaging him to design a custom pool house / flex space for a client in Hingham. His team is able to provide multiple options as well as professional 3D renderings for the client to fully understand the structure being proposed. Chris is a great listener, and our collaboration is truly blending the relationship of outside and in with this project!

Chris was a pleasure to work with. We had a baby on the way and desperately needed to renovate our kitchen. We had a budget we were trying to stay within, but more importantly, we had a very tight schedule. Chris worked quickly. He listened to our list of needs and wants. He provided several options, of which we were able to review together and come up with a hybrid that worked perfectly for us. We got everything we wanted, stayed within our budget and most importantly, we got to bring our bundle of joy home to a beautiful new kitchen. It really maximized the potential of the space and became the focal point of the house. We highly recommend b Architecture Studio and look forward to working with Chris and his team again.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful it is to work with Chris Brown and Kurt Stavdal at bArchitecture Studio in Winchester, MA. I am renovating my house which is a challenging task and they are making the process enjoyable. They are very professional and talented. Chris is the principal architect, he is very patient, he listens and does a great job explaining things. He works collaboratively with the team and is very organized and personable. Chris is flexible and always willing to make adjustments or come up to alternatives to meet my needs. He has a wealth of knowledge of construction and design details and offers practical and creative plans. It is amazing to watch Kurt navigate the plans in 3D! I recommend them wholeheartedly!

We have used Chris Brown of barchitecture studio for two projects over the past four years and have been very pleased both times. The first project was converting a second floor sleeper porch into a master bath, walk in closet and laundry room. Chris's capacity to take this dead space and mix elements that honored the 100+ old house and also brought in the modern, was truly amazing. He helped us navigate the aesthetic decisions as well and also partnered with our contractors to make sure each piece of the job was done well. Four years later, we have undertaken a much larger project: re-imagining a kitchen and converting a three season porch into a solid, usable and attractive mudroom and powder room. This was an awkward space with many doorways and a rear-staircase that he had to work around rather than demolish. He is also building a deck, re-designing our front porch and helping us create a small wine room in our cellar. Again, Chris did not disappoint with a stunning, window-filled design that maximized the beauty of our view without sacrificing the integrity of our Victorian home. One of the things we like most about Chris is that he thinks about how his designs will affect the overall aesthetic of the house, both internally and externally. Our house is a traditional Victorian and while we have modernized it, from the outside nothing looks just lopped on or over-done. Chris thinks about sustainability--whether that's green products, more water efficient plumbing fixtures, or suggesting that we re-use existing floors, doors, etc. where possible. Our aesthetic is more traditional than his is naturally, but he takes the time to get to know his clients and knows when to push a little and when to stick to our tried-and-true style. Again, he's helping us project-manage this job and is doing a great job helping us understand how to navigate a project of this size both from a budget and execution standpoint.

We're currently in the middle of our second major project with b Architecture Studio and continue to be thoroughly impressed. Chris is incredibly creative and has an excellent eye for maximizing the use of space in our 100+ year old house. He also has a keen eye for balancing modern functionality with an existing victorian aesthetic. That's no easy task. As b Architecture has grown, it has grown with the addition of very good people. That demonstrates a well run company that recognizes the importance of hiring well. I would recommend them to anyone.

We are just completing our second project with bArchitecture. The first was a complete remodel of a historic Cape Cod property. Chris Brown has a great deal of experience with historic commissions, and managed our applications expertly. The result was beyond our dreams. Chris was the second architect we hired for this project. He understood that I could not envision the end product based on a 2 dimensional drawing. He communicated equally well with my partner, a property manager, who is savvy about construction. Chris translated everything for me so that I could make informed choices about design, aesthetic and function. Our home is a perfect blend of modern convenience and salvaged pieces from the original house which showcase its history. While guiding us toward intelligent choices, Chris never said, "no, I can't". He always found a way to give us what we want, usually in a way that was more fun than we had anticipated. Our second project is a 2 story master bedroom suite addition, in a 1920s arts and crafts bungalow. As is the Cape house, Chris assured that every detail is period specific. Using original wood discovered in our garage, Chris designed a beautiful ceiling detail, to frame an art glass light fixture. Trim details reflect the hatched pattern on windows in the main house, carried through to gorgeous room-wide built ins and a clever plant stand. He also designed a large outdoor space for us, incorporating clever use of fencing that allows us perfect privacy in our hot tub, while maximizing light and air. He gave us an outdoor room, an unexpected treat. He captures the soul of a home, honoring its integrity and history while transforming it to its new purpose. I can find many kind words to describe Chris, including professional, thoughtful, creative and intelligent. But more than anything, I promise you that bArchitecture will give you even more than what you have imagined.
