We met whilst studying for a foundation diploma at Camberwell College of Arts all the way back in 1999 and have been friends ever since. We both went on to study textile design at Central St Martins where after experimenting in knit and print we both specialised in the discipline of weave. We have used our skills, experience, interests and knowledge to create and launch our collection of ethical home textiles, starting with what we know best! Our goal for bennettandbates has always been to create a range of stunning designs made to high standards and in a way that is kind to people and the planet around us. We have sourced high quality organic fabrics, dyed and screen printed with non-toxic dyes and found ethical Indian production workshops who beautifully hand-make our products. We are as concerned with good design as we are with ethics and quality so our style is a unique combination of graphic prints and soft florals with inspiration drawn from the natural world, architectural forms, history and our travels. There is a story behind every design which is close to our hearts and which we are happy to share with you. We hope you enjoy our products as much as we enjoy creating them. We have set our bar high by agreeing not to compromise on standards, ethics or quality and have stuck by these goals. We are still learning and trying to improve our brand and to produce beautiful, classic designs in a beautiful, classic way.
