Chris Kozub founded Vernacular Architectural Design, PLLC in May 2015, bringing his passion for design and construction directly to clients and partners locally and across the US. Chris has extensive experience in multiple project sectors allowing Vernacular's team to deliver tailored professional services to each client. Utilizing leading-edge design and visualization solutions including immersive virtual reality, Vernacular places its clients inside their project long before construction begins. This saves clients time and money because decisions are made when the cost to change a design component or system is low compared to when a project is under construction. The benefit is savings in each project stage as well as shorter build durations.
Chris brings 20 years of industry experience to the table along with extensive experience in managing large-scale, multi-discipline projects. Chris is considered by his peers to be a leader in his use of emerging technologies and has served on steering committees and advisory boards for some of the world’s most innovative construction software companies. After his early adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM), he helped develop New Process Work flow to realize the advantages of BIM beyond current industry practices. By implementing BIM to its fullest extent on his projects, Chris has saved his clients tens of millions of dollars and countless weeks of construction time. He also has extensive knowledge and experience in project programming and planning, budgeting, estimating, project scheduling, and design-build project delivery.
For example, Chris lead an integrated project team of designers, engineers, and contractors on the Snook’s Hollow Project by serving in the unique role of Project Manager/Project Architect/Construction Manager/Landscape Architect. The construction for this ambitious project - a large, fully customized, high-end residence with green systems and construction practices - was completed in under 12 months. In 2012, it was certified LEED Platinum and broke the world record for highest score achieved by a residential home.
