As a client of eworkshop located in Seattle, WA, Owner and Architect Chris Ezzell, and I met to discuss how to add and dramatically enhance an already existing and aesthetically pleasing house redesigned in 2007, into a more livable space, with more light, addition of a glass and secure metal screen entryway into the house, with a confined open air space my cats can safely enjoy nature at its best, and an indoor stairway that connects the upstairs to the downstairs. Many challenges working with an allowable and defined amount of space both inside and out. Chris with a shared vision for design, brought his expertise into play by creating an environment of transparency, providing more dramatic views bringing the outside in, views of thoughtfully planned and established gardens, playful and functional interior metal cat ramps, a place I now call home, a diamond in the rough on Vashon Island.

The project was a renovation of a house that included the kitchen, master bath, relocation of the laundry room and replacement of all the windows. Approach to the front porch for ADA access was designed as well. To keep expenses down we needed to keep plumbing modifications to a minimum which imposed some design limitations. Nevertheless Chris’s ideas transformed our 1980’s blah house into a lovely home. Instead of a dark cramped kitchen we now have beautiful, more functional light filled space. We had an idea of how to approach the ridiculous original layout of the bathroom. Chris incorporated our ideas into his design. Chris was a pleasure to work with. He was respectful of our ideas while encouraging us to “think out of the box”.

I have worked with Chris Ezzell for many years and I cannot say enough about his talent and in-depth knowledge of architecture and design. Chris is unique in many ways. He has the patience of a saint, his attention to detail is impeccable, and his design aesthetic is unparalleled. What’s better, he will work within your budget! He also creates custom light fixtures and furniture. I would definitely recommend Chris to anyone looking to design, build or remodel an existing house or structure from the ground up.

Chris provided architectural design services for a long, drawn out house project that can only be described as organic with many changes of direction and budget. We ended up with a combination of new construction and conversion of an existing building. Chris was able to knit all the pieces together into a cohesive home that we are extremely happy with!

Chris designed a complete kitchen renovation for me - down to the studs. The most admired feature is plug molding, which removes all the electrical outlets from along the wall and places them in the backsplash, giving a clean look to the kitchen. He also figured out a wonderful selection of cabinets for me, mostly in the island, so the kitchen was not cluttered with cabinets on the wall. My kitchen is elegant, highly functional and beautiful. I would recommend Chris highly.

Chris Ezell is attentive, thoughtful, and professional. He was able to execute our vision through asking thorough questions and paying careful attention to what we wanted. He thought of creative approaches to the design and layout. Chris made numerous suggestions from architecture and design to sourcing of materials to furniture choice and arrangement which we appreciated. In other words, he's a full service provider. Since the project's completion he's also kept in touch with how well we like the end product and we love it. We will not hesitate to use Chris again.

Over the last 10 years I've hired Chris Ezzell of e Workshop Design to work with me on several commercial and retail projects. Currently we are collaborating on the design and construction of a new restaurant/bar. Chris is everything you want in an architect. Creative, organized, meticulous, cost conscious and a lot of fun to work with. I have the utmost respect for him and look forward to working with him on many more projects in the future.

Nothing about E WORKSHOP is cliché. Having worked with Chris as collaborator and client, I am perhaps in a special place to observe that inherent to his design process are old school values that today sometimes get lost in the pace, namely loyalty and sincerity. When he re-visioned the roofline on our home it brought everything into balance, including budget and construction efficiency. With respect to design itself, materials of beauty, and partnership with you, E WORKSHOP can and will do anything of any scale for your home, from accessory to small or large remodel to new construction.
