KSF Architects

My husband and I hired KSF Architects to design a a kicthen and living room addition for our 1950's cramped family home. We appreciated Keith's enthusiasm for our project and his patience as we perfected our design. Keith delivered an amazing design, but unfortunately we were unable to go through with the build ( naive budgeting on our part). We hope to work with Keith again in the future.

I hired Keith Fineberg to design a kitchen expansion and a two level addition to my 1932 Tudor Revival home that would be in the same style as the original. He succeeded far beyond my expectations. During the design phase, he was very creative and yet very flexible, always providing me with several options. He is really a master at handling large amounts of detail and anticipating and solving potential problems. During construction, he was always there when needed to provide more design detail and to work with the contractor so the final outcome was what I wanted. Everyone who has seen the final result remarks on how beautiful it is and how well the addition matches the original house. Really, I can not imagine a more intelligent, creative, and professional architect who is also such a pleasure to work with. I would have been lost without him.

Thanks to KSF Architects we are living in a beautiful and functional modern house. It's appearance is stunning. People approach us from the street just to tell us how much they enjoy its striking appearance. But it is inside that matters and in that regard we we are extremely fortunate to have hired KSF Architects. The house is efficient and well designed. It is comfortable, easy to move around, energy efficient, and accessible for activities of daily living. In addition to creating a wonderful design, KSF monitored and advocated for us during the build process. We are more than satisfied and highly recommend KSF architects.

My contact with KSF began upon the recommendation of another friend, who had had a beautiful renovation completed for their home. I'd seen their home, and was impressed with their experience. Keith welcomed my very complicated renovation project and was willing to roll up his sleeves and see what he could do. My project was daunting to say the least with its many inherent problems, since more than one DIY had already been involved with this house. When we met, he listened. And listened more. I so appreciate that as an architect he may have had his own ideas spring to mind, but he really wanted to know what I, the client was after. Together we came up with a plan. I was given as much time as I needed to think things over, and always felt room to change something I wanted to amend. This made it feel like "my" project and gave me a sense of ownership toward the ideas we were striving to put on paper. Throughout the project, however, he could tactfully steer us toward sound decisions with his professional knowledge-- guidance I needed. I so appreciated Keith's professionalism. He provided me very early a clear outline of what I could expect in the progress of his services: the stages of work order, the fees associated with those stages. NO surprises!! This made me feel assured in our working relationship very early on. I also could see that he was sensitive to my own budget concerns: not only on how much time he was going to spend on some part of the plans, but where the design rendering would affect my building budget. And lastly, the final end result of my renovation is exactly as we visualized! This makes for a great end! KSF Architects is a brilliant source for design and detailed drawings. The insight to design is client focused, budget driven and very creative. The drawing details are excellent and well planned. The team there knows construction methods that work in the field and yield creative design. The support during and after the construction are excellent and this firm cares for both client and builder. A very conscientious firm. I'll look forward to the next project with them.

Keith Fineberg worked with our family in 2007 designing a second home in Virginia on a large lot. The basement was designed as a 1173 SF walkout left unfinished. The bathroom was roughed in and we could easily finish it with 2 bedrooms or an open room in the future. The first floor was 1173 SF with a large great room with a 2 story ceiling, a small kitchen, a large bedroom with a full bath that was accessed through a hall by both the bedroom and the rest of the first floor. The laundry and the utilities were located on this level. The front door and the first floor of the house were handicapped accessible. The second floor was 512 SF over the bedroom on the 1st floor. Keith drew it to include a full bath and an office/bedroom area. This sounds like a simple house, but it turns out to be a challenge to “fit” everything we needed in a 1685 (not including the basement) square foot handicap accessible house that was comfortable and beautiful. The blueprints were incredibly detailed. Keith is a professional and he listens. I would happily work with him again.

As an interior designer, I appreciate his cutting edge residential home designs, product knowledge and thorough construction follow-up. Working with KSF Architects was probably the best experience in building that I have ever had. This project was a large mother-in-law addition to an existing house. KSF architects clearly understood the client wishes and the owners needs. The addition was seamlessly added to the existing house integrating the design so that it matched. The architect was willing to communicate to the builder details such as kitchen cabinet measurements making it extremely easy for the client. The communication I believe was what was critical in making this building experience enjoyable. This architect was professional, met his deadlines and budgets, and certainly worked well with our builder. The project is beautiful with outstanding details. We are pleased.

Keith Fineberg of KSF drew house plans for us in July of 2007 for a house to be located in Hume, VA. Keith listened to our dreams and turned them into a detailed, thoughtful and much improved plan. The lot was 50 acres, the house site overlooked a lake, woods and mountains in the distance. We wanted a house where the outside environment was the focus, basically one story but with a studio loft, and with an unfinished walkout basement. He studied the land, watched the sun move across the fields, figured out how to catch the sun in the morning and the shade in the evening. He included overhangs, decks, walkways, the living area was filled with light and every function of the house was carefully thought out. He gave a nod to the rural area by designing an exterior with materials that gave a nod to a barn. He was thoughtful, fun to work with and most importantly a professional. He talked us through issues we didn’t know we had, met his deadlines and the house cost what we anticipated. I always wondered why people had architects - now I know.
