Richard Bubnowski Design (RBD) is a small award winning multi-disciplined design studio based in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, but with a national clientele. Our work has been widely published in Coastal Living, Luxury Home Quarterly, Style 1900, Home, Old House Interiors, Arts and Crafts Homes, Builder, Qualified Remodeler, Design NJ, Design Bureau, Custom Home, Residential Design + Build, and The New York Times. We specialize in designing custom single family houses along the coast (and inland) as well as furniture inspired by traditional and contemporary architectural styles. Our work has been recognized by a number of prominent national design awards, including the Watermark Awards, Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards, and the Design Excellence Awards from Residential Design + Build. We have also been honored to receive the Best of Houzz Award for seven consecutive years from 2012 through 2018 and then again in 2020, 2021, and 2023 for both Design and Service.

Robert Monetti

Rich is an honest, hard working, thoughtful and extremely creative architect AND designer who sees the project not only through an owner's eyes but also as a builder might. He assesses the sites light and air, topography all the way through the perfect nook or lighting fixture and chair...making sure that everything looks new and unique but also with some clear vintage influence and no one project copies another...no cookie cutting here....a class act we really enjoy partnering with...this review is years overdue. Rich is an amazing architect, and we are thrilled to recommend him! He is a masterful designer and took the time to truly understand our needs. He crafted a beach house that is beautiful to look at and functional for our family in every space. He is thoughtful in his concepts, particular in execution and an amazing person to partner with. He went above and beyond the typical role -- connecting us with an amazing builder, helping manage design to budget, and acting as liaison to the town and trades when needed. So happy to have found someone who poured his heart into our project in the same way that we did. Looking forward to some day doing it all again!!

Rich was an absolute please to work with. Never pushy during the design process but guided and educated us along the way. Amazing how he could articulate our vision into something everyone involved in the project, builder, tradesmen, designer, are proud of. Whenever we ran into a challenge, Rich was quick to find a solution. We would do it over in a second and highly recommend him. Our only disappointment is that the first phase of the project is completed but look forward working with him again on our boat house. The fact that we started out as a business relationship and end the job as friends should speak volumes on his character and professionalism. From our entire family we are so grateful to have had Rich be part of our forever home!

I'm thrilled to recommend Richard Bubnowski's architectural services. When my husband and I saw his portfolio on Houzz we knew he could bring our long-delayed kitchen and bath gut renovation to fruition with a coherent, integrative architectural approach. While many people think it’s an extravagance to hire an architect, it was the factor that truly transformed the result of our project. The design process took about four months and came in under the estimate. Comprehensive drawings followed. Richard then helped us choose major finishes; advised on contractors; and made site visits once construction began. Not only was Richard a great partner, master teacher, and "coach” who helped us through the big decisions, he remained open to alternate ideas and adjustments. Communication was excellent and we stayed within our budget. We feel like we got a new home that added light, openness, functionality, and style to our 1948 Cape at the Jersey Shore. The result is everything we hoped for and more.

The project included replacing builders grade sliding doors with a four panel windows and center doors design, a new deck and patio landscaping. Richard was great to work with. Our meetings were brainstorming sessions followed by Richard delivering fantastic and creative designs. Great attention to every detail. The details of the patio and landscape design including choice of stone materials, layout of gas fire pit and a custom designed fence.

We're just finishing up on a project designed by Rich -- an extension and full exterior renovation and face lift. We are very happy with the outcome and are glad that we followed his lead on all details vs. some other ideas we had. Rich is highly professional, very easy to work with and communication was a text away throughout the project. His design was great -- clean yet impressive in detail and exactly what we needed. We appreciate very much his creativity, attention to detail, and advice during both design and construction.

Richard is creative, professional and a pleasure to work with. He is knowledgable of all aspects of working on the waterfront. Richard listened to everything we wanted to accomplish in our renovation and discussed cost impacts of design from the very first stages. His design will turn our outdated vacation home into a home that fits our family.

I got in touch with Richard when my husband and I decided to renovate and expand our home. We already had some ideas of what we wanted but Rich consistently came to us with great and logical suggestions on not just the design of the house but making the layout more functional and adding the space we needed without overdoing it. We worked hand-in-hand on the entire project from start to finish and I couldn't have had a more positive experience. Home renovations are never easy but Rich definitely helped carry the weight and manage the project from start to finish. I was more than pleased to find an architect that shared my vision and my sense of style and could really let loose and have fun with our project! We are more than thrilled with the outcome and are thoroughly enjoying our 'new' home.

we are thrilled with the design that Rich came up with. he was a great listener and tried to incorporate everything that we expressed an interest in. Rich remained extremely interested in the project even after completing the drawings and visited the job site several times during construction, taking photos to send us. if time is of the essence, Rich may not be the architect for you, but if you are more interested in having a beautiful and build-able design, than i would recommend Rich Bubnowski without any reservations.

Mr. Bubnowski was always available and responsive for clarifications and his creative influence is evident with a great outcome outcome. His frequent site visits and positive reports to the owner helped maintain a continued calm after what had been an distruptive period in the owner's life. Michael McWilliams

We first saw Richards work in Coastal Living and were so inspired by his featured surf shack. We began building New Moon Cottage from the ground up! Literally!! I had never had any experience before being apart of building a home but I can tell you there are some big shoes to fill if its ever to happen again. Richard and I worked together on a vision of the plot and really saw the entire process through. He had a natural sense for how I felt the home could flow and knew precisely how to make that a reality. It was an experience i'll never forget and has shaped me as 'a creative' for the rest of my life, without a doubt. In the end, we became friends and thats about the best gift of all. He's a caring family man with true passion for what he does and for the lives around him!
