It was a complete pleasure to work so closely with their team to achieve perfection. We also appreciated the creative freedom that was extended, and we loved working directly with their client to meet all their needs. The project resulted in a timeless home with exquisite details.

Exceptional architect for high-end homes. Terrific design aesthetic across a range of styles. Very high quality standards for the overall design and all the details both inside and outside the house. Very personable and pleasant to work with -- Doug is directly involved in all phases of the project. While he brings a strong point of view on design and structure, Doug always listens to client input.

We started working with Doug last fall on a sizable addition to our home; construction will begin in a few months. Prior to hiring Doug, we engaged the services of several other well-known architects during the schematic design phase. None of their designs accomplished what we wanted. Not only was Doug's design the most logical, functional and creative, but the most beautiful. He created a seamless integration of the old and the new. We sought Doug and his team to help with our new home design after seeing his work in publications and online. The design was conceived with the intention and eye toward building a home that belonged in and looked like it had resided in our neighborhood for a long time while still being current, attractive and special. The result was beyond our highest expectations; the beauty and detail on the exterior and interior finishes are truly stunning. This was our fourth large renovation as a family and by far the best experience and best final product.

We could not be happier with our new home! From foundation to fine details Doug delivered us a home that is totally functional yet absolutely beautiful. We are still discovering some of the finer subtle details that were elegantly built into his design. My husband and I have worked with Doug on many projects, large and small, over the years. He helped us to completely renovate our house in Greenwich twelve years ago. In the intervening years, we have turned to Doug many times. This year alone, we have finally re-done a bathroom that we chose not to do years ago and are currently restoring an apartment in New York City. Doug handles all with vision, creativity and gracious good humor. From our Georgian Greenwich house to our Art Deco-inspired city place, we have been thrilled with Doug's ability to work in multiple residential styles. When my husband and I took on the project of completely renovating an 1846 Greek Revival house in the back country of Greenwich, we ran into difficulties with the architect we had hired. Doug VanderHorn came to our rescue! Many architects might have been unwilling to take on a project that had already started, but Doug, to my everlasting gratitude, not only agreed to work with us, but brought fresh, new, creative and improved ideas to the table. His taste is impeccable and he ended up helping me with all kinds of related issue like bathroom tiles, special effects in moldings and fireplaces and placement of furniture in a difficult room.
