Bennett Murada Architects was originally established in 2011 by Jacki and Dom Bennett. We are now a practice of fifteen architectural staff based in Crows Nest NSW. We are positive, enthusiastic, easy to work with, and gauge our success by our ability to consistently develop successful ongoing relationships with all parties involved in our projects. Our practice is based on the simple premise that director level understanding and ownership of each building’s design at a detail level is critical to the resolution and coordination process, and we therefore commit only to projects where that level of understanding is achievable. Regardless of the scale of your project, we value not only innovative and inspirational design at a project’s inception, but rigour, clarity and accuracy during our design development, documentation, tender and construction processes. We understand that an important part of our role within the design team is leading, motivating and igniting a sense of ownership and interest across the design team members. Our experience has taught us that the best results are achieved when all stakeholder contexts are aligned, communication is open and clear, expert input is integrated accurately into the project, and mutual respect is achieved. We consider locally appropriate and effective sustainable technologies and passive design devices a fundamental part of our buildings DNA, without defining the character of the building as ‘overtly green’. We acknowledge there are design, budget and regulatory challenges particular to each project, and are experienced in the interrogation, understanding and resolution of these requirements. With this in mind, we encourage the development of building design in a truly collaborative environment with our clients, along with focused input from authorities, specialist consultants, builders, suppliers and other team members to arrive at a refined, efficient and beautiful product. We consider the pragmatics of building, especially cost, programme and buildability integral to the design development process. We test our design decisions against these parameters regularly throughout the process, and actively promote the same within the consultant team through regular value engineering workshops.
