In 2016, we undertook a complete exterior remodel/update, total kitchen remodel, and update of dining room and three story foyer. Carol provided design services for our exterior color palette, kitchen layout and finish selection, and interior palette definition. Our selection of Carol was based on her extensive color knowledge, design experience and certifications, and our contractor recommendation. I had spent considerable time thinking about our projects, but my husband was not as comfortable articulating his preferences. We found the Design Center visit helpful to understand each other’s preferences and align our design preferences for our upcoming projects. Her assistance on our color palette selections were crucial given the paint sub-contractor efforts (exterior of our three story hillside house, kitchen cabinets and walls, and three story foyer) were large ticket items in our remodel. Through it all, Carol was a complete professional, provided quality finish recommendations and timely responses to our requests and questions.

To Whom It May Concern: The Trowbridge’s would like to heartily recommend Carol Woodard to you as the finest, most professional, and pleasant interior designer we have ever worked with. Carol incorporates all the qualities of an excellent communicator by listening to your needs and wishes, using your ideas along with hers, and then shows and tells you the resultant look that can be achieved. That “look” will always be the best available! Our initial marvel at Carol began when she integrated our redecorating effort with the architect and builder so that all parties were coordinated and heading toward a common result. She developed design ideas with everyone and was sure the design could be achieved within the stated budget and time restraints. This approach assured the final “look” would be what we wanted and could afford. We really appreciate the way Carol was straightforward with discussions about money. As usual, our redecorating was carefully budgeted but costs are seldom firm at the beginning of a project. Carol worked with us, the builder, and other vendors to achieve a wonderful new “look” for us at a reasonable cost. Where a lower cost option was available we all could discuss it and, sometimes, reduce cost. Carol has enriched our lives with her knowledge of interior design, what options are available, what colors mix and match, and how to creatively present these qualities in a very livable environment. All problems dissolved with her professional care and sense of humor and our home now has the “look” we wanted. I worked with Carol 15 years ago for my first house, and again over this last year on a new house. She is particularly talented at figuring out what her client likes and wants, instead of imposing her style on the project. She exposed me to things I would not have known existed, and offered design ideas that were both elegant and practical. I met Carol through a mutual group we are part of. My husband and I were building a house and had little idea of where to start when it came to choosing colors, fixtures, or any other of the details that go into such a major project. Further, I was getting an inkling he and I didn't quite like the same things. Working with Carol seemed like a good idea. The best things Carol did for us was help us discover our design style and our color palette. Charles was certain we were contemporary. It turns out he isn't quite contemporary himself, but he's closer than I am. I'm not quite traditional, not quite contemporary. This landed us in an area called transitional. Carol also brought us to look at fabric designs until our senses of color began to coalesce. It didn't take long for us to start leaning toward a particular color family. This became our palette. Carol found us a few fabric samples containing all of these colors, and we carried these with us through our project. Armed with our design style and our color palette, suddenly our tasks came into focus and we had direction. That's not to say that the process was entirely smooth. Carol was of immeasurable help in keeping us on track with our style and color choices when one our both of us would stray, or when one or the other of us would nudge her and indicate we were having trouble getting the other on track. She could double as a marriage counselor! Carol also excelled at managing outside vendors on our behalf. She managed everyone's schedules and we did not have to worry about that in the least. I would highly recommend Carol. I am not experienced in design, and she helped my husband and I put together a beautiful home.

Carol gently and patiently guided me , from a place of not "wanting to let go," towards a new vision of my home in terms of style and function, and I am thrilled with my beautiful new hardwood floors, kitchen, family room, bathrooms, tile and granite materials furnishings, lighting, and overall design. We remodeled our house and Carol helped with color choices for the interior and exterior. On the interior Carol choose a color that we would have never looked at and it's incredible. Everyone that comes in the house comments on how warm and friendly the house seems. On the exterior we had our mind set on a green and Carol gently brought us over to a Mocha and with a dark brown trim, Umber accents and a Charcoal stained entry door. People stop and compliment the exterior whenever I'm out front.

For nearly twenty years I have had the pleasure of working with Carol Woodard and helping her clients select appliances at University Electric. It has always been my feeling that she is the consummate professional when it comes to world class design. Following up an extensive remodel in our showroom at our showroom, we noticed one big thing missing: Color. Carol was at the top of my short list of designers who could put the finishing touches on our showroom. She came in and studied the combination of natural light and where the fixtures were, as well as the color of the displays and made some amazing recommendations in paint color, lighting, and hanging photographs to bring out the best overall personality of our location. She even made sure to use the colors of our company logo where possible. The combination of new colors and lighting has had a calming effect on our staff and has brought about many compliments from our customers as well. People seem more relaxed and at ease with the new colors and lighting in our showroom. I would strongly recommend Carol for any of your design needs; residential or commercial. If you want to make a statement with color, she is your gal for sure!

We worked with Carol for about 9 months on remodeling a house to bring it up to date. She helped us with things like picking materials (tile, wood), structural choices (replacing a broken fireplace with a window), and picking paint colors. She has a good eye for color. She is a true professional. Many of the contractors and local vendors knew her and had good working relationships with her. She is organized and a clear communicator. She focuses on quality over affordability. If you are looking for a designer who can help you find gems at discount outlets she is not a good fit for you. But if you want someone with lots of experience and knowledge, she will be a good match. She knows about universal design and aging in place as well as safety considerations and usability. She helped us to make beautiful choices that would add to the safety and usability of the home. She also knows a lot about materials costs. It saved us a lot of time to just be able to ask her questions about cost and safety instead of researching them on our own. We were glad that we worked with Carol because she helped us make decisions more efficiently than we would have been able to on our own. This ultimately meant our project finished faster and we are now enjoying our beautifully remodeled home.
