Painting Concrete & Porcelain Tiles
Commentaires (0)The previous owners put porcelain tiles in the foyer and the same tiles outside on the walkway and steps. There is concrete before this starts. Is there any way to paint over the outside concrete and tiles and also another paint for the inside tiles?... Voir plusGreen interior design is essential to your health
Commentaires (0)Why is a green interior design essential to your health and the health of your children ? Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. It includes a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects and are up to 10 times more concentrated indoor than outdoor. Most of the VOCs come from paint, glue and a lot of building material. How to reduce or eliminate VOCs from your home ? What is good for you is also good for the environment. To have a greener interior design the first step ins get rid of the chemicals in the paint. The use of a water based paint is the most ecological, it gets well to almost any surface and is weather-resistant. It is also cheaper than an oil based paint ! Now let’s get to your furniture. Of course an organic mattress or an air purifier would be very recommended to keep you away from VOCs. You should also make sure that the furniture is made from organic materials, free from potentially harmful chemicals. Important certifications : When looking for non-toxic furniture, make sure they are Greenguard certified. Greenguard certification is issued for products that meet rigorous criteria for VOCs emissions set by key public health agencies. Forest Stewardship Council certifies wood is harvested respecting indigenous people’s rights without causing any harm to the environment. Commentaires (1)Hello genevieve Lepine Personnally, I'm more concerned about the red wall. If it will be treated in white, that's already a great step. The fireplace, staying the way it is doesn't seem too much of an issue. I'm not really too fan of glossy paint, either, especially on fireplaces. Painting over tile takes somewhat of a technical mastery, otherwise any missed movement can cause a scratch. If you have heat coming from the flames, the paint should not budge. Keeping the wood flooring, beige "faux stone" tiles and white walls allows many style choices. Have you looked into the work of Studio McGee? They alway keep the space neutral and add contrasting details. (Of course in my reference images, the fireplaces are white...why not? but perhaps not glossy). I'd replace the recessed lighting fixtures with white ones, as well. good luck, Lynn... Voir plusUser
