Living Room Decor
Need help figuring out a color scheme for my living room. I like neutrals, black & white, but I am also not afraid of color. My family room is eclectic so I am open to any color schemes. Then I can figure out the pillows/art/extra chairs. I also need to see where the sofa would fit best. I used to have it against the wall but since my living and dining room is open I figured this way it would break up the 2 rooms - although I think it might be better against the wall? I am open to getting rid of those ikat curtains. Any suggestions on area rug for the entry way would be great too. Thank you so much for your help :)

Commentaires (24)Bonjour à tous, Comme j'avais quelques jours de congés, j'en ai profité pour commencer le relooking de cette chambre... Tout le monde ne va pas apprécier mais j'ai effectivement peint l'armoire et l'ai placée à sa nouvelle place près de la fenêtre. La Reine mère approuve et ça me réjouis. Je rassure les inconditionnels du bois naturel, il s'agit en fait de l'ancêtre de la célèbre enseigne suédoise, tout est en kit et pas très solide en fait... Je vais écouter les conseils de Francine France et utiliser le pied de lit en guise de tête de lit. Cette nouvelle tête de lit passera aussi sous mon pinceau... Le plus gros reste encore à faire mais l'impulsion est lancée!! Les prochaines vacances ne seront toujours pas reposantes ;) Voici les photos de mon oeuvre, je n'ai pas encore nettoyé les vitres mais je ne résiste pas! Commentaires (45)Bonjour Pascale, Oui, des Besta à tablette + portes...posé bien sur un demi bastaing peint noir et un peu en retrait afin de rester discret, et aussi posé au mur avec le rail prévu. Aucun problème de tenu. Mais prenez un joli bout de plan de travail pour le dessus...ou bien un coussin. Le projet en dessous, on a utilisé les meubles Metod avec des portes Superfront. (demi bastaing en blac cette fois) Par dessus, des plans de travail et chêne lamellé collé et le coussin. tout est faisable... Voir plusModerniser un living room
Commentaires (0)Bonjour à tous, Nous avons cet imposant meuble depuis 40 ans. Il est en orme teinté chêne. Mon mari refuse de s'en séparer mais accepterait à la rigueur de le peindre en gris clair. Avant de nous lancer dans ce travail et de peur de le regretter je voudrais votre avis. Est-ce une bonne idée ou sinon comment apporter une touche plus moderne dans la déco? Commentaires (2)Hello, I vote for full height curtains. Check out references from Studio McGee for some gorgeous ideas. If you keep them white and with long enough rods to allow them to fall in front of the wall instead of covering the glazing, there will be no change in available sunlight. good luck, Lynn... Sofa on the wall with another smashing piece of art 5" above the sofa. Replace the torchiere lamp with a good looking pair of floor lamps flanking the sofa. Remove the IKATs, sew the panels together so you can hang two each side of the bay in the dining room like below. Add black pillows to the sofa. Clear off the entryway table and hang a 3rd smashing piece of art 5" above it! The entry and living art can be as much as 75% of the width of the furniture they hang above, and the dining piece can relate similarly to the dining table.

il y a 4 ansUpdates so far - I removed the ikat curtain. Will need to add another cream or a light breezy curtain. Changed sofa position. I like the art but I think it’s too small so will need to go one size up. Rug is too small - was only testing out colors. I also removed the console table. I would love a bench and a large mat/rug by the entry area. Any suggestions for that? Any recommendations for the living room? Thank you again for all of your wonderful creative ideas.

what do you think about a side table next to sofa?
I feel like I want to move your sofa to the left a bit.
look at these pics for some other examples that would work....
notice the sofa two pics (art should be 2/3 the size of the sofa and hung a few inches above the back) . Notice the size of this rug. I also like something tall in the corner next to your window. a large tree/plant would eat up that space.
notice the rug placement, and the tree in the corner. art behind sofa. placement of poufs.
what do you think about this little side table next to your sofa? the blue lamp is a nice addition. You won't need that torchere in the corner if you do this. Think about hanging a beautiful fixture from the ceiling.
below, just look at how the sofa, side table w/lamp, a standing floor lamp, rug, and the little ottomans are placed. this could easily be done w/yours.
similar coffee table like yours. notice the hanging fixture and the way the table is decorated.
some other elements for your sofa. floor lamp and or the side table w/a cute lamp. larger rug. If you can't find one large art piece, do two.
accent wall, art, side table/lamp,,,,look at how pillows are arranged w/throw. chair off to the left.
another option if you center your sofa on the wall..two side tables w/art and lamps. a nice mirror piece over the sofa. you have tall ceiling in there so don't be afraid to bring in some height! If the art behind the table is too much, then just do a nice piece behind the sofa (but still do the tables and lamps)

but gives you an idea. Remove the blue/white pillow and two others from the sofa. (too many) remove the pillows from chair.
if you center the sofa, remove the torchere and painting, , we can play around a bit better with some other elements.
ditto w/the entry. take a photo straight on.
here are a few ideas
do you have a chandelier in the entry at all? you could also do a rug here. And, I'd paint your door

I'd paint the living room and dining room one color.
I'd use the same drapes for the living room and dining room. I'd stick with a lighter tone.

il y a 4 ansWe really think the teal chairs work well. We might recommend getting rid of the rug over the carpet, and to get a lighter colored coffee table. With all the things you have in the room the coffee table seems to be the only the piece that doesn't fit.

il y a 4 ansDernière modification :il y a 4 ansHi. Here is a space with almost your exact style furniture, that looks great. Your table can fit in fine. Keep in mind, this room is sort of an updated traditional and has a neutral palette.
Note that there are just touches of the dark throughout. Adding small touches of the stain on the coffee table will be enough (example the art frame in this case).
People have posted a range from traditional to modern on here and you have liked many of them. You have only a few photos in your ideabook and all have traditional furniture. What is the style you want to achieve? Would you mind posting a photo of a room you love?
