I like everything here but the herring bone design- too busy. like the ship lap around stairs, and it may look good to cover that wall at top of steps that seems random. the first pic is tile wood. some new light fixtures would be nice and not too expensive. like I said, the kitchen could use a lot more light. maybe a pot rack? not sure without seeing it tho.
