Belgravia Project
From the peaceful, calm interiors of this completely reconfigured Belgravia Mews House, the challenges faced in delivering this completely refurbished home now seem far removed from the finished house. Beginning and ending in lockdown, with Brexit somewhere in between, and undertaken for a client on the other side of the world, this project was never going to be straightforward. But the result is a beautiful, considered home, which works perfectly for the unique needs of the homeowner.
Untouched for many years, the formerly dark and cramped home is now bright and spacious, and the warmth of the interiors provides a stark contrast to the crisp architecture. As well as adding space and light, the whole layout of the property has been rethought to make the absolute most of the tight floor plan. The stairs were moved to the middle of the house, creating a division between the kitchen and dining area and separate living area, maximising available space while providing for a sociable, airy living spaces. Upstairs, the roof space has been opened up, exposing the trusses to make the rooms feel larger and allowing light in through new roof windows.
Trusting us and the contractor, Danlaw Limited, to deliver this project for them was a leap of faith for the homeowners. But when they arrived at their newly completed home as soon as they were able after lockdown, the homeowners couldn’t have been happier with the result. Bright and open living spaces enhanced with calm and considered interior design have made for a modern, elegant, characterful, family home.
