Chinatown modern pied-à-terre
This tiny pied-à-terre in San Francisco's Chinatown plays with light and reflection to create a feeling of welcoming spaciousness. Those same lights and reflections create many levels of ambiance that change over the course of the day and into the night.
In the bath, custom cherry blossom branches wave among recycled glass mosaic. The mirror blossoms and branches reflect light and hint at depth as one passes through the space.
Warm mahogany balances cooler concrete. The custom shower enclosure even has a couple of petals etched into the shower floor for toes to find! Thanks to Cheng Design in Berkeley for making this happen.
The mirrored wooden screen hides all things bath while creating the sense more space and light - and conveniently check your hairdo from any angle. And of course, the dragon faucet adds a bit of spunk!
