High on the Hill
The clean lines and modern aesthetic of this home meant that hiding the technology in this automation project was critical.
The rack needed a centralised, out-of-sight location (a hallway cupboard did the trick), and the home’s controls had to be intuitive and easily controlled via iPads. Other needs included: a rock-solid Wi-Fi signal through the residence, CCTV, security, intercoms, access control, and a special focus on distributed audio — music is a bigger deal than video to this particular family.
Seven zones of audio cater to the client’s needs, including two surround zones and five two-channel zones. The speakers had to be carefully concealed in ceilings and joinery details. Four video sources funnel content to three video zones, and pre-wiring was included in the project should the homeowner ever add another video zone.
