From the street, a round rock pathway leads to a small seating area next to the water with a small fire pit. Low maintenance, drought resistant and salt tolerant plantings were used in mass and clumps. This garden has become the focus of the neighborhood with many visitors stopping and enjoying what has become a neighborhood landmark. Located on the shores of Puget Sound in Washington State. The low wall was set 3 ft back from the sidewalk with plants placed in front. The stairs create a niche for the front gate where we placed urns with dwarf Kumquat trees planted in them. An electric gate for their cars creates some security.

Stepping stones in a minimal gravel paved area lead past two lounge chairs to the intimate dining area. The herringbone-patterned limestone patio dissipates into a lush planting bed filled with loose swaths of shade-loving perennials and seasonal bulbs. Beech hedging, and formal clipped evergreens, surround the space and provide privacy, structure and winter interest to the garden. On axis to the main interior living space of the home, the fountain, is the focal point of the garden. A limestone water wall featuring an engraved pattern of fallen Honey Locust leaves nods to the centrally located mature Honey Locust tree that anchors the garden. Water, flowing down the wall, falls a short distance into a pool with a submerged limestone panel. The light noise of the falling water helps soften the sounds of the bustling downtown neighbourhood, creating a tranquil back drop for living and entertaining.

The open plan area at the rear of the property is undoubtedly the heart of the home. Here, an extension by Charlotte Heather Interiors has resulted in a very long room that encompasses the kitchen, dining and sitting areas. Natural light was a prerequisite for the clients so Charlotte cleverly incorporated roof lights along the space to maximise the light and diffuse it beautifully throughout the day. ‘Early in the morning, the light comes down into the kitchen area where the clients enjoy a coffee, then towards the afternoon the light extends towards the sitting area where they like to read,’ reveals Charlotte. Vast rear bi-folding doors contribute to the space being bathed in light and allow for impressive inside outside use. Entertaining is key to the kitchen and dining area. Warm whites and putty shades envelop the kitchen, which is punctuated by the deep blue of the decorative extractor fan and also the island designed specifically for guests to sit while the client cooks. Brass details sing out and link to the brassware in the master bathroom. Reinforcing the presence of exquisite craftsmanship, a Carl Hansen dining table and chairs in rich walnut injects warmth into the space. A bespoke Tollgard leaf artwork was specially commissioned for the space and brings together the dominant colours in the house. The relaxed sitting area is a perfect example of a space specifically designed to reflect the clients’ needs. The clients are avid readers and bespoke cabinetry houses their vast collection of books. The sofa in the clients’ favourite shade of teal and a dainty white boucle chair are perfect for curling up and reading, while also escalating the softness and femininity in the space. Beyond the bifold doors, the pergola extends the living space further and is designed to provide natural shading and privacy. The space is designed for stylish alfresco entertaining with its chic Carl Hansen furniture. Luxury sheepskins and an outdoor fireplace help combat inclement temperatures. The perfect finishing touch is the wisteria and jasmine that were specially selected to drape over the pergola because they remind the clients of home and also because they echo beautiful blossom.

An urban oasis in East London. This space has been transformed into a lush garden perfect for indoor-outdoor living. This garden has been designed so that it is divided into 3 distinct areas, each surrounded by lush. abundant planting. closest to the house a dining patio with a large built in parasol for sunny and slightly rainy days, a second patio area with sofa and chairs offers a great space for coffee, working and drinks near the outdoor kitchen and BBQ area. The substantial built in benches at the rear of the garden offers a wonderful space for relaxing and entertaining with dappled shade from the overhead pergola and plants in summer and warmth of the fire pit on colder nights.

We worked with Darren Oldfield Architects and Imperfect Interiors as part of a period house renovation. Our clients wanted a low maintenance garden that they could use all year round. We used pleached trees, installed an bespoke oak pergola and planted a mix of evergreens and multi-stems plants to soften the structures and give the garden privacy. We were asked to disguise the gym/office and this was done by painting it a dark grey green so that it became hidden and part of the garden.

The large alcove houses a giant AC unit which was visible from the street. This gate that leads nowhere allows access for servicing or removal of the unit. The bioswale is constructed of a Geo Grid to allow a dolly to remove AC unit if and when it fails. The beautiful rain chain filters rain water from the roof into the bioswale so the water remains in the garden and not down into the storm drain.

This beautiful victorian terrace with original tiled paving leading to the doorway has been reinvented with positioning of Corten steel planters. These were designed to create a modern and easily maintained front garden. The bespoke design complements the tiling and echoes the red rust colour of the original brick.

Оформление сада на внешней территории. Так как сразу за забором начинается резкое понижение рельефа, то мы сделали несколько подпорных стенок, что позволило удержать грунт и сделать этот участок более презентабельным. The owners of this property were completing a full renovation of the house to provide a home for their young family for the next few years. Removing the overgrown existing garden completely, we started with a blank canvas approach to complete a fresh functional outdoor area that maximises every inch of space and provides an attractive setting for the home. Built in bench seating provides the perfect area to sit and watch the children and artificial turf ensures the children can get outside to play all year around. New gates at the entrance provide a secure and attractive entry to the property and ensures the long driveway can be used for toddler's bikes and ride on toys safely. A new storage shed is incorporated on the driveway. Paving down the side of the house provides an attractive outlook from the kitchen, additional storage and easy access to utilities. Planting was kept minimal but with a focus on subtropical plants that will provide interest through colour and foliage texture all year round.
