TKS Design GroupThis project is a good example of what can be done with a little refresh. Sometimes parts of your space work well and parts don’t, so a full gut and replace might not make sense. That was the case here.
After living with it for a decade or so realized they would really prefer two sinks in the vanity. Since there were two windows in the bathroom, we decided to eliminate the window to the left of the current vanity and replace with it with a longer run of cabinets.
The other window is to the right of the vanity let’s in beautiful morning light. The window we removed was a northern exposure and its location under an eave didn’t allow for much light, so it was the perfect solution!
In addition to the new vanity, we also changed out the countertop, added new mirrors and lighting, and changed out the tile floor to a larger hex with fewer grout lines. This adds a brighter more modern look while still maintaining the vintage feel of the room.
The shower was in great shape, so we left that as is except for swapping out the shower floor tile to match the main floor and adding a more updated decorative mosaic tile. We added a new toilet and for a bit of luxury a heated towel bar.

Bennett Design Co.For this guest bath, often used by the man of the house, we kept the same footprint but wanted to update the finishes. Since this is a secondary space, budget was a consideration, and we were up for the job!
We opted for darker, more masculine colors with a touch of deep blue. Natural textures and dark, warm colors set the palette. We chose bronze fixtures to really anchor the room.
Since the budget was a concern, we selected an affordable shower wall tile and only splurged on the niche insert. We used a pre-fabricated vanity and paired it with a remnant countertop piece. We were even able to order the shower door online!

Reico Kitchen & BathCat Neitzey from Reico Kitchen & Bath in Fredericksburg, VA designed a modern and accessible primary bathroom remodel featuring Merillat Classic cabinetry.
The bathroom cabinets are the Lanielle door style in a Whisper finish, complemented by hardware from the Jeffrey Alexander Alvar Collection. The countertop is MSI Frost White quartz, accompanied by black fixtures from the Kohler Tempered Collection.
The bathroom also includes Atlas Tile Grespania Trivoli 12x24 wall & floor tile, as well as Pan Lungarno Nero Penny with Nero Chevron Accent tile.
Cat expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work on this project. "The style the clients brought to the table was so fun, and the showroom appointments were creative and interesting. This fully accessible renovation in a multi-generational home addressed practical concerns with standard construction. Meeting accessibility guidelines and ensuring proper installation were our top priorities. I love that we were able to achieve that while incorporating choices both dramatic and modern and clean and elegant."
