This hidden front courtyard is nestled behind a small knoll, which protects the space from the street on one side and fosters a sense of openness on the other. The clients wanted plenty of places to sit and enjoy the landscape.

Guadalajara, San Clemente Coastal Modern Remodel
This major remodel and addition set out to take full advantage of the incredible view and create a clear connection to both the front and rear yards. The clients really wanted a pool and a home that they could enjoy with their kids and take full advantage of the beautiful climate that Southern California has to offer. The existing front yard was completely given to the street, so privatizing the front yard with new landscaping and a low wall created an opportunity to connect the home to a private front yard. Upon entering the home a large staircase blocked the view through to the ocean so removing that space blocker opened up the view and created a large great room.
Indoor outdoor living was achieved through the usage of large sliding doors which allow that seamless connection to the patio space that overlooks a new pool and view to the ocean. A large garden is rare so a new pool and bocce ball court were integrated to encourage the outdoor active lifestyle that the clients love.
The clients love to travel and wanted display shelving and wall space to display the art they had collected all around the world. A natural material palette gives a warmth and texture to the modern design that creates a feeling that the home is lived in. Though a subtle change from the street, upon entering the front door the home opens up through the layers of space to a new lease on life with this remodel.
Deck & Drive Solutions
This was a complete tear off and rebuild of this new deck. Timbertech came out with a new series and new colors for 2020 this February. The homeowners wanted a maintenance free deck and chose the new stuff! The decking color they picked with their blue house was Timbertech’s Reserve Collection in the Driftwood Color. We then decided to add white railing from Westbury Tuscany Series to match the trim color on the house. We built this deck next to the hot tub with a removable panel so there is room to access the mechanical of the hot tub when needed. One thing they asked for which took some research is a low voltage light that could be installed on the side of the deck’s fascia that would aim into the yard for the dog in the night. We then added post cap lights from Westbury and Timbertech Riser lights for the stairs. The complete Deck Lighting looks great and is a great touch. The deck had Freedom Privacy Panels installed below the deck to the ground with the Boardwalk Style in the White color. The complete deck turned out great and this new decking is amazing. Perfect deck for this house and family. The homeowners will love it for many years.

This classic San Francisco backyard was transformed into an inviting and usable outdoor living space. New expansive double french doors open onto the custom concrete paver and Ipe wood patio. A generous L-shaped outdoor kitchen island frames the patio area and allows for ample storage and prep space.

The focal point is the ultra-versatile and envy-inducing outdoor living space. Intelligent and aesthetic features abound. There’s always an opportunity to use this area thanks to the retractable screen and automated ceiling louvres. The recessed TV above the gas fireplace allows the ‘game’ to be watched in any weather.

Landwell Design + Build Co.
This spacious, multi-level backyard in San Luis Obispo, CA, once completely underutilized and overtaken by weeds, was converted into the ultimate outdoor entertainment space with a custom pool and spa as the centerpiece. A cabana with a built-in storage bench, outdoor TV and wet bar provide a protected place to chill during hot pool days, and a screened outdoor shower nearby is perfect for rinsing off after a dip. A hammock attached to the master deck and the adjacent pool deck are ideal for relaxing and soaking up some rays. The stone veneer-faced water feature wall acts as a backdrop for the pool area, and transitions into a retaining wall dividing the upper and lower levels. An outdoor sectional surrounds a gas fire bowl to create a cozy spot to entertain in the evenings, with string lights overhead for ambiance. A Belgard paver patio connects the lounge area to the outdoor kitchen with a Bull gas grill and cabinetry, polished concrete counter tops, and a wood bar top with seating. The outdoor kitchen is tucked in next to the main deck, one of the only existing elements that remain from the previous space, which now functions as an outdoor dining area overlooking the entire yard. Finishing touches included low-voltage LED landscape lighting, pea gravel mulch, and lush planting areas and outdoor decor.

Bianchi Design
These clients decided to make this home their Catalina Mountain homestead, after living abroad for many years. The prior yard enclosed only a small portion of their available property, and a wall obstructed their city lights view of northern Tucson. We expanded the yard outward to take advantage of the space and to also integrate the topography change into a 360 vanishing edge pool.
The home previously had log columns in keeping with a territorial motif. To bring it up to date, concrete cylindrical columns were put in their place, which allowed us to expand the shaded locations throughout the yard in an updated way, as seen by the new retractable canvas shade structures.
Constructed by Mike Rowland, you can see how well he pulled off the projects precise detailing of Bianchi's Design. Note the cantilevered concrete steps, the slot of fire in the midst of the spa, the stair treads that don't quite touch the adjacent walls, and the columns that float just above the pool water.
