Sylva has been involved with the construction of these luxury holiday homes since 2012 and have built around half of the units constructed on site so far. This is one of our plots http://www.thelakesbyyoo.com/properties/bowmoor/ Our scope of work includes a timber frame superstructure, provision and installation of windows and doors, larch timber cladding, roof coverings and rainwater goods. We also supply and install the glulam beams and larch decking along with stainless steel balustrade posts, balustrading wires and larch handrails. Most clients choose from a range of house types which are then modified to suit their requirements, perhaps adding an office, home cinema or children’s bunk room. Others opt for a completely bespoke design and appoint an architect accordingly. With either route our involvement starts at a very early stage to ensure that the design is optimised for safe and high quality construction. We take the clients’ design ideas and translate these into a set of working drawings, ready for offsite manufacture and assembly on site. Manufacture drawings, window and door schedules, construction details and material take-offs are all prepared in house prior to starting work in the factory. At each stage the client is met with to ensure our latest drawings remain true to their original concept and wish list. One other important factor in the process is build speed, with most clients buying a plot and then wanting to be able to use their new property in time for the next holiday season. Our construction process allows for a fast track build, with wall panels, floor and roof cassettes, windows and cladding all being factory produced and assembled as far as possible prior to arriving on site. A typical superstructure can be assembled in as little as two weeks, with the building being completely watertight a week or two after that. Cladding is then installed, along with terraces, decking and handrails. Given the proximity to the lake, all external timber is natural and installed untreated to avoid chemicals leeching into the water.
