Jesse has worked many months on the project of my house in Eugene, OR., an old house whose foundation needed to be redone and the new basement was made into a liveable space after the house was raised. I live in France and Jesse has supervised the team working on the house, has helped me over the months making informed choices or understanding the work being done. He has always been so helpful and knowledgeable, despite his very busy schedule. He was able to always prioritise my needs. He would reply to my email from France right away, despite the 9 hour time difference. He worked diligently with the city of Eugene in order to obtain the many permits that we needed for the project. Jesse is so talented as an architect and the aesthetic outcomes were refined and were met in all possible details. He seems to prioritise these outcomes over profit. He treated me very kindly and helped me, knowing how stressful it is to oversee a project when you live so far away. “Laine redesigned our 19th century Queen Anne Victorian, helped us find our builder and shepherded us through the entire project which included a complete renovation of the kitchen, third floor master suite, main entryway, deck and the addition of a cupola. His attention to detail is superb: floor plan, windows, doors, details in moulding and direction on lighting and fixtures. He was unfailingly calm and reassuring with us and with our builder and was always available to guide us through difficult decisions. We discovered fire damage to our roof during the project and Laine worked quickly with our builder to find a solution and kept the project on schedule. The finished project won a local award for a renovation that stayed true to the architecture of the period.”

“In 2012 we purchased a 120 year old house in our town's historic district. The previous owner had lived in the house since 1941 and very little had been done in that time to update any of the systems. The house did not have a garage, needed a comprehensive restoration and needed to have the kitchen updated to modern standards. As our town's historic district had a reputation of being very challenging to work with, we knew that we needed an architect with an extensive knowledge of historic buildings and an expertise on how to work with town boards. Also, as we would be living out of state during the renovation/ addition, we were looking for an architect who could effectively manage the project and communicate ongoing status and issues in a clear concise manner. John Battle showed up on day one ready to go. He quickly recognized how to best preserve the historic elements of our house while at the same time cost-effectively modernizing the structure. He and his team worked up a creative design for the garage that was in harmony with the existing house, and one that was ultimately approved by the Historic District. I can not emphasize this part of our project enough: dealing with Historic District had the potential to be extremely stressful, but John's calm and persistent demeanor successfully navigated this. His plans for the main house modernized the kitchen and turned it into the epicenter of family activity - his design came out so well that it ended up on the cover of This Old House magazine. Ultimately we are in an wonderful old house that thanks to John and his team, retains all of the charms from another time but offers all of the modern comforts.
