The house is a fabulous hybrid: traditional front facade contrasted with a thoroughly modern section in the back. “We met with Ileana to discuss possible renovation ideas to our 1960s house to open up the space and to re-think our upstairs bathrooms. She designed the project in a way that allowed us to consider the two pieces (upstairs and downstairs) both separately and together. We originally thought we would focus on the upstairs initially, but we were so happy with the redesigned first floor that we ended up deciding to tackle this project first. We contracted with a local company to do the work, and they have had no problems following Ileana's architectural drawings.”

“Designing a house with John and Marilyn was a pleasure. They really worked to understand our needs and our taste. We get lots of compliments on the overall look of the house as well as the beautiful details like the coffered ceiling in our kitchen, the custom backsplash, built-in living room cabinets, windows in the great room, window seat on the stairway...and on and on. It has been a joy to live in the house they designed because it's just what we wanted. New Leaf Collaborative didn't miss a thing. After moving in, we also worked with Marilyn to buy furniture, rugs and window treatments. She already knew our style and what would fit well in the house.”

“Working with Ben Robbins (and the entire team at Pillar & Perch) has truly been a wonderful experience. Throughout our project to design and build a new home for us, they have consistently been knowledgeable, professional, and are a pleasure to work with. After listening to what we wanted and looking at our lot, Ben’s first design was nearly spot on (we only tweaked a few very minor things). That was impressive! Then, throughout the build process, they have gone out of their way to please us and ensure that we’re happy. Ben is very responsive and keeps us informed as to what is going on, and has even found us some ways to save money without sacrificing from the architectural integrity of the project. “Working with Workshop11 to build our dream home was a dream come true! Never having done a project of this scale and after hearing horror stories from people who used architects to design houses they couldn't afford to build, we were nervous about such a massive undertaking. Stephen worked collaboratively with us to make sure we designed a home that was modern and also practical for our family. He worked within our project budget, and always came up with creative ways to design something or build something that went beyond our expectations. We quickly learned to trust Stephen and his crew implicitly. And, despite his laid-back demeanor, Stephen is a closet-perfectionist that thinks carefully about how things look and function, and made sure everything was well-designed and well-built. Given Workshop11's ability to do metal design in addition to home design/build, everything in our home is custom and beautiful. After living in the house for almost two years, we still can't believe we get to live in this amazing modern home!”
