“Boa Constructor is a wonderful company. They remodeled my small 1912 bungalow in the Seabright neighborhood, creating a much more livable floor plan while maintaining the integrity of the house. Using eco-friendly and salvaged materials was very important to me, and Michele, the GC, was a kindred spirit in that respect. She encouraged me to find salvaged materials on Craigslist, and she made an effort to reuse 100 year-old redwood siding, doors, etc, when I know it would have been easier to go to the lumber yard and buy something new. Her crew is friendly, expert, and tidy--we lived onsite during our renovation (in a studio behind the house) and I always felt comfortable having the crew here. Michele seems to know every subcontractor in Santa Cruz, and she's great at getting the best quality tilers, hardwood floor people, etc., at the best price. Even more importantly, she is a good listener, and she is patient and flexible with clients. We were, in some ways, terrible clients--we struggled to make up our minds, my husband and I communicated with her at cross-purposes, and we expected miracles on a small budget. Michele stuck with us, dealt with the inevitable challenges and setbacks, and got us back into our home on schedule and for a reasonable price. (We did time and materials, rather than a fixed contract price, so there was no overarching budget.) My house is a little jewel box now; thanks to the creativity and care Michele and her crew lavished on it, it's ready for another 100 years of life.”

“Great experience, high value, very reliable and best crew we ever worked with. Mayer’s construction did a home remodeling for us during the last 6 months. It has been a big home remodel for us that took design and build as well. After months spending finding the right company for us, we have choose to work with Mike & Nathan Mayer from Mayer’s construction. A week after finalizing contract we started working with Su & Luis both company’s architect and engineer. We worked on the new plans we agreed and wanted at first and started to have architect drawings ready, when we got into engineering process, both Mayer’s construction and us didn’t know we were suppose to redone so much of the existing footings and reinforce of additional walls as 20 years ago we did a 2nd story addition that was probably made poorly and unprofessional. They were extremely kind and helpful and kept the price as we agreed on and didn’t changed a thing. The plan process and measurements took about a month or so, and finally we were able to submit the plans to the city of San Jose. After getting the permits done and job card set ( overall 5 months of waiting / SJ is a pretty busy city) we got into work schedule and been ready to move out as the entire home going to be demolished. Mike was very organized both managing and scheduling the team, rough materials arrivals, and to us to be fully briefed with details and what we need and when. The process of work was great and on timeline , city did changed a lot during this time period with their inspection delays but it didn’t interrupt with our schedule or timeline due to great management ahead. We just finished our work and we absolutely in love with our new home! New flooring throughout, new kitchen, new bathrooms, complete open floor plan, new stair case, new rooms reconfigured, new paint, new texture, new windows and sliding doors throughout, all new plumbing and electrical. A brand new and beautiful home we got thanks to Mayer’s construction and the team, Mike, Nathan, Raul, Jose and many more who had a added value and did this work absolute best.”

“David remodeled our bathroom and did a great job! The house is over 100 years old and of course there were many things not right. He was able to plumb the walls and floors, fix the plumbing and electrical and get an 8 foot marble slab stone shower installed. David is very seasoned and has the gamut of skills to complete almost any job - from rough construction, foundations to installing cabinetry, hanging door and crown moulding. He will always try to make it right and not take the short cut just to complete the job. He is very precise in his work. If you want quality and attention to details, then David is your contractor.”

“We hired Clever Design and Remodeling to remodel our kitchen in our condo. We had met with two other contracting companies and we were given a similar quote as Clever but to be honest, meeting with Gilli gave me a totally different level of confidence than meeting with the others. We replaced most of the carpeting in our home with European Oak wood flooring which is beautiful. We also had the kitchen cabinets refinished and a new stainless steel over the range microwave installed as well as coordinating new sink fixtures and all new cabinet hardware. Recessed lighting was installed in the living room, kitchen, and master bath with necessary patching and all ceilings painted. Roy was very knowledgeable of all aspects of the project -plumbing, electrical, carpentry- displaying true craftsmanship in his work. Gilli was great to work with, she is very detail oriented and he and his team always left our house and the common areas in the condo building extremely clean (cleaner than it was originally, honestly). The Clever Design and Remodeling team really went above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable and happy with the work. Strongly recommended!!!!”

John stopped by our job every morning to discuss what was going to be done that day. They were extremely helpful in helping us to make decisions on the materials to select. “I worked with Chad, the owner, on the redesign of my 1,000 square feet home, which includes a master bathroom addition and a new roof structure. Chad is easy to work with and his past experience as general contractor is very valuable when designing while paying attention to the overall building budget. He is a Green Building Professional and is on top of new products on the market. What I liked most is that he is very open minded about materials that he hasn't worked with and he did quite some research to give me professional advise. Chad does plan heated floors, which was the selling point for me when I was looking for a designer. Getting to know him over the course of the design project confirmed that he is a true expert in various areas. If I get stuck during construction and need independent advice, it is a peace of mind that I can always call Chad and get his opinion.”
