“My husband and I highly recommend Joby Aranda. We have worked with her several times and have been more than pleased at every turn. Joby first organized our garage and when she was finished, I couldn't believe it!!. Everything was organized, categorized and labeled! She all also took away unused and unwanted items and lots of trash.
The second time we used her, she found a person to build slide out shelves for our cabinets. They were so deep that it was hard to see what was in the back. Once the shelves were done, she organized all our office supplies in one set of drawers (see the photo.and organized electronics and miscellaneous in the other. And she helped organized our. new spice drawer.
At her next visit, the task was to make our office workspace more usable. We we sharing an old dining room table as a workspace, and the two of us were always complaining about the other using our space. We only had one chair so couldn't be in the office at the same time.She suggested we build a desk on one side of our office wall.... and recommended a vendor to work with. The results were fantastic and both of us are super pleased (at least we will be as soon as my. office chair arrives. You can't go wrong with Joby!”

“I selected ALB Designs for a major remodel on a 1930's San Francisco home. The remodel included (ultimately) the kitchen and bathroom upstairs, a new connecting stairway downstairs, and new finished space downstairs (hall, laundry, utility room) to connect to a downstairs suite. ALB Designs provided architectural services, design services, and to some extent, project management services.
Anne Laird-Blanton (architect) gave me multiple options based on our conversations. After much time (it took me 2 years to decide!) I finally landed on one option and the work could begin. Anne listened to me and the ultimate design reflected my desire with the added benefit of her creative and practical solutions.
It can be overwhelming to pick out all the fixtures, fittings, colors, etc. and ALB Designs helped me by making suggestions or narrowing down my choices to 2 or 3. The result is a remodel that reflects my style, but is more polished and cohesive than I could have managed on my own.
ALB Designs also helped me select - and manage - the contractor. It speaks volumes that we're all still speaking at the end! I hear horror stories from other people about their contractor, so I feel very lucky that she guided me to a very reliable professional who's work ethic matches hers.
With projects of this size there are always surprises. When the kitchen was gutted, the contractor realized that it was a few inches larger than expected. Without even asking, Anne modified the plans to give me the pantry that I wanted, but hadn't been able to fit in before. This is just one example of her responsiveness, and the importance of having an architect who collaborates well with the contractor and client.”

It's not her briskly cheerful efficiency at pinpointing what needs to and can be done within the agreed-upon timeframe. It's not even the abundant good humor and refreshing practicality she brings into your messy, messy life. And the belly-laughs along the way.
It's the lasting results: Shira doesn't just reorganize your space --- she gives you a new perspective on the arrangement of your daily life. Years later now, I remember the time she held three separate can-openers up and with a mischievous twinkle said, "Pick one!" Ah. Of course I don't need three, just the best one. And she made it feel like an in-joke, not like a shameful oversight.
We tore through my wardrobe and eliminated items I didn't think I could have parted with but felt unburdened by after their dismissal under her counsel. She stacked things. She separated items. She categorized in ways I hadn't thought of. And I learned.
I won't pretend that my home is now Shira-worth several years later, but many drawers remain uncluttered, which if you know me is pretty impressive, and my understanding of how to accomplish some of her miraculous effects remains. Hm. Time for another appointment.”

“I hired Lucy last year after I found out that I was pregnant. Doing an extreme clean out/organization session had been on my list of things to do for a few years...and I knew that it wasn't going to happen any time soon on my own. I soon hired Lucy and I was so glad I did! Lucy was very methodical of how/where we should start. She was very honest and pushed me to really think about what I was keeping and why. We would separate everything into three items (1) garbage (2) goodwill (3) consignment. At one point there were 25 bags in my garage to bring to good will!
Lucy and I would work together on weeknights in three hour sessions. She was always very prompt and was willing to stay longer if we were in the middle of making some good progress. My husband and I ended up buying a house soon after Lucy and I had made our way through organizing my home, and I always talk about how much I likely saved in moving costs since I had got rid of so much stuff in my organizing process! Lucy was also great in suggesting great ways to store/organize items. Once we were all moved into our new home, Lucy came over to help me organize our kitchen and a couple of areas in our house.
I rave all the time about how great working with Lucy was and how it made me feel so much better about my move, and my home now!”
