All Metro Shower Curtains are made to order with original, exclusive designs. New patterns are added all the time! Our philosophy is to create beautiful, fun and unusual designs, but not to mass produce. Made-to-order products are better for the environment than mass produced items, as there are no wasted unsold products. It also means that your bathroom can be as unique as you are. All shower curtains are sublimation printed on polyester fabric, creating a light-weight, quick drying easy care curtain. While they are water-resistant, they are not water-proof, so we do recommend using a shower curtain liner for the inside of your shower. A liner allows you to display your beautiful curtain outside the shower, for a more finished look, while keeping your floor dry. The best liner option is washable fabric, as it can be washed instead of disposed of when it gets dirty (Think: Pacific garbage patch. The world's fish will thank you!). All shower curtains are made in the USA.

Jacaranda Living is a privately held company founded by Cathy and Martin Deale in 2004. It is headquartered in Wellesley, Massachusetts (a suburb of Boston). Cathy and Martin were born on the Kwa Zulu Natal coastline of South Africa and grew up there until 1997 when they moved to live in Boston, Massachusetts. Cathy has always had a passionate interest in fine linens and enjoyed doing her own needlework. Jacaranda Living has enabled Cathy to convert her passion into a thriving North American business that also helps support producers whose personal circumstances are less fortunate than ours. It all started with Cathy’s admiration for the high quality of workmanship produced by talented local Zulu women along the South African coastline. She became determined to try and help them expand their market horizons beyond South Africa. Jacaranda Living (named after a beautiful lilac flowering tree that is prolific in South Africa) was established to support these many wonderful people and their families, who suffer daily with financial hardship and live in an environment that is further compromised by crime and AIDS. From humble beginnings, the company has been able to expand its product mix and introduce other items made by different groups of African women living under similar circumstances. More recently, new items made by women in other countries have been added. All our products are made of natural fabrics - pure cotton, linen, bamboo and silk. Our look is classic European – beautiful embroidery both by hand and machine, whispers of cotton lace, applique or simply unembroidered. In every case we strive to remain true to our mission – to produce beautiful, high quality linens and gifts in a socially responsible environment. Cathy, Martin and the Jacaranda Living team are committed to supporting their customers with outstanding service. Martin handles business development, marketing, strategic organization and direction. Cathy's tireless energy focuses on the fun part of client interaction and product development. "It's a happy, exciting and fun place to work because our clients have become our best ambassadors" says Cathy. We hope our products bring a little joy to your home; we know your support will enrich the lives of the women who made them.

Røros Tweed has been weaving high quality wool products since 1940, building on a local tradition that goes back centuries. Selected wool from Norwegian sheep and 100% Norwegian production, combined with collaboration with Scandinavia’s top designers and textile artists, has made Røros Tweed one of the most renowned wholly Norwegian quality brands. The mining town of Røros is situated more than 600 metres above sea level, and is on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. The valuable copper discovered in the 17th century gave great wealth to some, but the vast majority of the people of Røros remained poor. When Peder Hiort, the childless director of the mine, died in 1789, he bequeathed his entire fortune to a foundation that was set up to provide an education in textile production to the poor, as well as providing the necessary raw materials. The foundation then purchased the goods from the apprentice textile workers, and every year at mid-summer the same clothes were given back in the form of charity. Very often, the ones who had received payment for the clothing they had made, received the same clothing back. Peder Hiort’s will, which has been described as one of the most insightful in Scandinavian history, created a tradition for handicraft and textile production that sustained itself through the years and created the grounds upon which Røros Tweed was founded. Further education was provided and, in 1940, Røros Tweed was established as a sales outlet for handmade textiles. Today, Røros Tweed is the only producer of throws and blankets in Scandinavia, ensuring that the whole value chain remains in Norway. Norwegian sheep graze on clean, fresh mountain pastures, making their wool pure and more environmentally-friendly than most textile fibres. In combination with the flexibility and insulation properties that are naturally developed in sheep that dwell in the cold Norwegian climate, this is a fundamental reason for the superior quality and functionality of Røros products.
