“We have a house and an acre of land in Metchosin, BC. It is a semi-rural part of Victoria so very lush, green and always growing! As we have not yet moved there full time, the garden was getting ahead of us and we were completely overwhelmed with the amount of work and at a loss for any ideas to get it under control and looking good. I went to a neighbourhood Garden Centre and basically said: "I need help" and they gave me Theresa Balak's card. I was ever so grateful! Theresa came over,to see us and we talked about what we envisioned, our lifestyle and our ideas and wishes for plants and the overall look we had in mind. She took measurements, created comprehensive drawings of the dream and gave us hope that we could find a solution that worked for us - easy care, drought and deer resistant and beautiful. She recommended three possible landscapers as well. Her flexibility and yet clear direction for neophyte gardeners was so appreciated. Her design and the landscaping of Natural Solutions has turned out out-of-control front yard into a beautiful display. (I am sure our neighbours are thankful and the deer travel through it with rarely a sniff or a nibble!) Thanks so much, Theresa!!”

“My husband and I bought a home prior to completion and were given the opportunity to completely design the yard from beginning phase– in essence a blank, dirt canvass. We hired Melissa Baron to design a landscape for our property that would complement and enhance the extensive renovation on our mid-century home, moving it towards a more modern feel. Melissa was very easy to work with from the beginning. She brought great ideas but also listened to our wants and needs for the project and was able to really define and create a vision for the space. Melissa was professional and responsive throughout. She acted as not only the designer but also as project manager. There were various elements, subcontractors and tradesmen on site that Melissa was able to coordinate and liaise with. The planting process was very intricate and required much planning and careful consideration based on our desire to have something low maintenance, but also private. Melissa has an incredible knowledge of plants and the different environments that they should be placed in to allow for optimal growth. Our yard transformation was absolutely incredible. Melissa was able to conceptualize an amazing space for our family all while keeping things in-line with our budget and dealing with various time constraints. “I hired Take Root Gardens in March of 2014 for a total overhaul of our modest Vancouver backyard. Not only was the execution flawless, they added a lot of value in the design and planning stage, with some great suggestions that worked out really well. During the actual work, they were always right on time, took very good care of our property during the work, and cleaned up spotlessly, even going so far as to powerwash our deck, which was not part of the project. What stood out the most, was how much care they took, and how detail oriented they were. The overall quote was very reasonable, and they came in right on budget and on time. I would hire Ty & Matt again in a second and highly recommend them.”

“Hazel was a delight to deal with right from our very first telephone conversation. She met with us at our home and together we talked about all the hopes my husband and I had for our tiny backyard. Because of her great depth of knowledge, Hazel was able to help us hone in on certain things and educate us on what would and wouldn't be possible, saving us a lot of time, energy and money. Hazel created a beautiful plan that not only gave us a great "visual" of what our future yard would look like, but she also provided us with a a detailed lighting plan, materials list and a comprehensive list of plants to purchase. We were also able to get recommendations for tradespeople and where to buy the best plants. Hazel far exceeded our expectations and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her!”
