Wall paint advice

We are updating our kitchen, starting with patching plaster walls and then painting. I want to paint one wall with chalk board paint, but can't decide which wall to choose. I have my choice narrowed down between two walls. The wall with the light switch (first photo) faces the kitchen, which I like, but then I think I would have to paint the drywalled beam that runs parallel into it because it would look odd to paint a dividing line. I can choose the wall that the beam runs perpendicular (second photo) into, but that wall faces the living room and I don't really want to see my grocery list and kids doodles from the living room. Any advice?

Commentaires (2)I see your point, It does look ugly :) Since its a rental apartment, do you have the authorization to remove it ? Because unfortunately, you can't put down vinyle over lino, it will not work (and its not because of the uneven floor). You can remove the lino and put another one, less ugly. It can be nice actually :) http://designmag.fr/design-dinterieur/lino-sol.html You are speaking about sticker, its quite cheap, why not trying and see if it fits with an uneven floor ? Although Im not sure that it will look pretty. Last solution, you can paint the lino, it will not last forever but it could be nice. Ask for expert advice to by the appropriate painting pots.... Commentaires (0)This is the wall of my living room leading up to the stairs. We would like to paint a wall - hubby thinks wall with painting and chimney which protrudes from the wall. I'm inclined to think the back wall on either side of the chimney (more work). What do you think - we do have high ceilings... Now the second problem is the staircase...we will varnish the stairs the same colour as the parquet BUT...the banisters and upright were painted white at some point partially sanded and now look strange. I want to paint them because there is a lot of crevices and I think it will be too much work to sand it all done. We are leaning towards a darker colour - in the picture it looks black but in fact it's a a dark shade of blue. I was also thinking of F&Bs "Black Blue". I would like any and all suggestions on where to paint and colour ideas. Thanks so much!... Voir plusColours - which colour and where!?
Commentaires (7)Hello, F&B Black Blue is gorgeous for the staircase and I personnally would'paint the whole wall (including above the chimney) in a nice F&b yellow'colour, such as Yellow ground or Dayroom Yellow. I'm sure this combination of colours'will just be stunning. However I would recommend that you test the colours before choosing one (on reasonnably big surface,i.e. 1sq. meter) because once applied on a surface the colour might look very different than what we expected. F&B sells samples for 8€ and I really think this is worth it. I' telling'you this because I experimented it in my house. I was convinced one colour was THE one and still tested another one aswell by precaution and, once applied on the wall, the second one was an evidence. Good luck and pls keep us up to date. il y a 8 ansI would paint the wall inside the kitchen. I believe you answered that when you said you didn't want to see it from the living room. :) I think the above idea for making a large frame out of trim could work fine in that spot. My question is... if you're not wanting a frame, then what is to the right side of the opening? (kitchen side?)
PS I really like your idea, I think it can look very cool! ;)
