Need help with window dressings for living area
HELP!! I've just repainted and I am so confused with what to use for window dressings in the living area. We are updating the house to a "modern coastal" style, however I'm not sure what I should use for the windows. The rooms are actually quite light, although the photos show them dark. I'm changing the carpet to a sandy coloured fleck, and of course the light fittings will be changed as well. (Advice gratefully accepted here as well).
Ignore the furniture, as all that will eventually be updated as well.
The adjoining dining and family room have sliding doors that look out onto the water, so I need something that would work for them as well. (Or at least be able to tie in with them)
Any suggestions or images you can point me to??
PS: The living room bay window looks out onto a private pool & garden area.

Commentaires (2)I see your point, It does look ugly :) Since its a rental apartment, do you have the authorization to remove it ? Because unfortunately, you can't put down vinyle over lino, it will not work (and its not because of the uneven floor). You can remove the lino and put another one, less ugly. It can be nice actually :) http://designmag.fr/design-dinterieur/lino-sol.html You are speaking about sticker, its quite cheap, why not trying and see if it fits with an uneven floor ? Although Im not sure that it will look pretty. Last solution, you can paint the lino, it will not last forever but it could be nice. Ask for expert advice to by the appropriate painting pots.... Commentaires (2)Thanks, indeed. A rug would be an option, but our 2 small kids eat like pigs... This option is for later :0) Does anybody have an idea that fits our minimalistic style? We are not fan of "busy" spaces. Is there any technical solution? Sth we could stick under the table or a trick, magical plants perhaps?... Commentaires (84)bonjour, ils sont très bien les rideaux que vous avez trouvé, le bleu est bien clair et dans les tons pastels que nous utilisions beaucoup en Scandinavie. Le bleu assortie pour le coussin est parfait. Si vous souhaitez vous rapprocher du style Scandinave il faut choisir entre rideaux et voilage comme on ne mets jamais le deux, beaucoup trop lourd pour nous intérieurs ou on essaye toujours garder une luminosité maximale. En Tunisie vous avez le problème contraire donc il faudra s'adapter et trouver une équilibre entre le style Scandinave et vous besoins. Si vous souhaitez avoir une voilage je conseillerai vivement un blanc uni, sans rayure! votre tableau bleu et jaune sera très bien avec l'ensemble, il est très beau!... il y a 8 ansI considered white plantation shutters originally, however the cost is outside our budget. It's up around the $4.5-$6k mark for the main living areas alone, and I did have a concern that they would make the rooms look smaller. I am considering plain white roller blinds for winter warmth (only use 3 months of the year) and maybe sheer curtains? So then my question is do I use track or pole? Ringed or pleat? Pattern or plain? Do I go linen look or plain sheer? I'm so confused. I want to try achieve a modern coastal feel. I like simplicity, but I also like a bit of bling or luxury. I'm conscious of making sure whatever I choose in the lounge can flow into the family/kitchen/dining space. The picture below is the family area that currently has vertical blinds. It hasn't been re-painted yet. The entertainment unit and couch is fairly new, however I'll be replacing the bench stools with wooden leg ones. I've included these pictures, because everything needs to tie in together and flow from lounge to family room. These sliding doors need dressing as well as the living area. (the living area is the only area ready to be finished and styled properly).

Have a look on houzz beach style window treatments, probably a sheer with a linen, in a plain with a rod,white sheer with a taupe linen

We have something similar in our family room, only plain, We have number of large windows and two glass doors overlooking the garden and we didn't want to block the view. We have white plantation shutters in all of the other rooms. They are fabulous.
