Struggling with dining room - too many windows

Really struggling on how to style my dining room. There's so many windows it's really hard to put anything anywhere, and I feel it's pretty dull and boring.
Was thinking maybe a hall table under the picture with some decorations, a lighter bowl in the centre table and maybe some floor lamps in the corners or hanging plants or candle holders or something. Was thinking of changing the canvas too.
Attached a photo of the attached kitchen and corner of playroom (playroom will be my next room to do).
My 4 year son chose the black placemat and is pretty proud of himself, so prefer not to change that. On a tightish budget so probably can't afford a new table either.
Oh and excuse the dishes!

We are not fan of "busy" spaces. Is there any technical solution? Sth we could stick under the table or a trick, magical plants perhaps?... Commentaires (84)bonjour, ils sont très bien les rideaux que vous avez trouvé, le bleu est bien clair et dans les tons pastels que nous utilisions beaucoup en Scandinavie. Le bleu assortie pour le coussin est parfait. Si vous souhaitez vous rapprocher du style Scandinave il faut choisir entre rideaux et voilage comme on ne mets jamais le deux, beaucoup trop lourd pour nous intérieurs ou on essaye toujours garder une luminosité maximale. En Tunisie vous avez le problème contraire donc il faudra s'adapter et trouver une équilibre entre le style Scandinave et vous besoins. Si vous souhaitez avoir une voilage je conseillerai vivement un blanc uni, sans rayure! votre tableau bleu et jaune sera très bien avec l'ensemble, il est très beau!... il y a 7 ansI've got a budget of probably max $250 for this room, new blinds would just eat that all up pretty much :( It may have to go in the long term plan as I do agree it would look really good.
Kmart sells some cheap wooden bunting or globe lights, maybe I could hang something like that or some material or something at the top of the windows to add more texture meanwhile?
With new curtains, I could get some cheap ones, but wouldn't that look like too much with the 3 windows and the curtains from the door already there?
I'll be getting a new light, they can be had pretty cheap and would add a lot. Was thinking something like the photo attached, maybe in cream.

il y a 7 ansHi. Why not have a look at the dandelion light by ikea which would add a lot of interest?
I would also paint the walls, a pale muted tan would complement the mint green. I'd put the fruit bowl on the island and add a vase of good quality faux stems (can't help with shopping suggestions unfortunately given you're in the states but flowers in salmony pink with green foliage would complement). Do you need the curtain over the door for privacy etc? Have you considered dip dyeing your chairs for a new look? A console table would be good, perhaps try eBay?

I'm in Adelaide, not the states :s I'll have to fix my profile! So I'd really appreciate suggestions if you have them :)
Dipping the chairs? I've considered painting them white but they have brown material seats so not sure if it would look weird.
Don't need the curtain for privacy but it gets pretty cold here, without the curtain and blinds it gets pretty cold at night. It's all usually open during the day (see attached pic, though usually a bit more open and brighter when there's not massive storms).
The dining room wall connects to the kitchen on top of the door, so not sure where I'd stop with painting?
