A Garden room separating garage from house proper. A repurposed tannery bench found and detailed by the architect creates this handsome room. Earthy and elemental materials are selected for the home that reference the barn without directly mimicking it. Wooden members found inside the barn and from other barns bridge ceilings and are used in floors along with rustic slate adding to a sense of simplicity to the farmhouse design.

This mudroom was designed to fit the lifestyle of a busy family of four. Originally, there was just a long, narrow corridor that served as the mudroom. A bathroom and laundry room were re-located to create a mudroom wide enough for custom built-in storage on both sides of the corridor. To one side, there is eleven feel of shelves for shoes. On the other side of the corridor, there is a combination of both open and closed, multipurpose built-in storage. A tall cabinet provides space for sporting equipment. There are four cubbies, giving each family member a place to hang their coats, with a bench below that provide a place to sit and remove your shoes. The plantation style entry creates a stunning entrance to the home with it's low rock wall and half height rock columns the double white pillars add interest and a feeling of lightness to the heavy rock base. The exterior walls are finished in a white board and batten paneling, with black windows, and large dark bronze sconces. The large glass front door opens into the great room. The freshly planted tropical planters can be seen just beginning to grow in.

The sunken mud room with it's beautiful stone floor has a white barn door to close it off from the rest of the kitchen. The open locker bench has plenty of coat hooks for the grand kids. There is also a laundry sink and plenty of storage. This mud room has it all!
