Saikley ArchitectsRemodel to a timber frame and adobe brick house originally built from a design by renowned mid-century modern architect Cliff May. We modernized the house – opening walls, bringing in light, converting a garage to a master suite and updating everything – while carefully preserving and restoring the original details of the house. Original adobe bricks, redwood timbers, and patterned tiles and other materials were salvaged and repurposed within the project. Period details such as louvered vents below the window sills were retained and repaired. The kitchen was designed to accommodate very specific wishes of the clients for ease of use and supporting their lifestyle. The original house beautifully interlocks with the landscape and the remodel furthers the indoor-outdoor relationships. New materials are simple and earthy in keeping with the original character of the house. We designed the house to be a calm retreat from the bustle of Silicon Valley.

UserThis design boasts it's own private bar area which features a windsor grey quartz worktop and light grey cabinets, providing a practical use of the alcove by creating a seating area, and influenced by copper lighting and accessories, while the cabinetry hides a preparation area hidden by pocket doors. A tall bank of units boxed in by stud walls to create a unique built in look. The kitchen houses Neff slide and hide eye level ovens, a wine cooler, ceiling extraction and an induction hob.

Red Pepper Design & CabinetryWe combined three different finish materials to give this small kitchen interest and create a modern graphic pattern. Stainless shelves intersected by walnut, one horizontal taupe acrylic top hinge wall cabinet all contribute to the unique layout. Altera Design & Remodeling, Inc.For this client who entertained frequently and cooked seriously, their old kitchen was outdated, inefficient and inconsistent with the style of the rest of the house. To create the Asian-inspired kitchen of their dreams, the space was completely renovated, including the adddiiton of a much needed pennisula to prep meals. Through the use of sleek lines, warm cherry cabinets, bamboo detailing on select cabinet doors, and vertically-oriented, green glass mosaic tiles that evoke the look of bamboo, an understated Asian aesthetic was created. Two-toned cabinet detailing, varied height upper cabinets and furniture-like legs on the pennisula were some ofthe details that provided dramatic visual impact and interest. Quartz countertops, LED recessed lighting and an induction cooktop were green design features than were equally practical and beautiful.
