New stainless steel backsplash and hood and vent wrap was designed. Shaker style cabinets had their insets filled in so that era appropriate flat front cabinets were the finished look.

Original kitchen cabinets from 1970. The pass-through which separates the kitchen from the main living area was meticulously removed and the door fronts were used to make cabinets for the Master Bathroom, Guest Bathroom, and Powder Room. The cabinets are extra deep allowing for extra storage and concealed trash and recycling. Granite slab counters are bookended to match on either side, presenting exquisite attention to detail. Enjoy top-of-the-line appliances including a state-of-the-art induction cooktop.

Solid maple tongue-and-groove hardwood floor in the kitchen and a white-washed pine tongue-and-groove ceiling offer a unique contrast in wood types yet are still in the same color family. Other features include a custom vent hood over the stove, crackled subway tile patterning on the back splash, solid maple top cap on the half wall and a light tube over the kitchen island.

Hive HomeIn a home with just about 1000 sf our design needed to thoughtful, unlike the recent contractor-grade flip it had recently undergone. For clients who love to cook and entertain we came up with several floor plans and this open layout worked best. We used every inch available to add storage, work surfaces, and even squeezed in a 3/4 bath! Colorful but still soothing, the greens in the kitchen and blues in the bathroom remind us of Big Sur, and the nod to mid-century perfectly suits the home and it's new owners.

The homeowners are very social and many of their events centre around cooking and entertaining. The new spaces were created to be where friends and family could meet to chat while pasta was being cooked or to sit and have a glass of wine while dinner is prepared. The adjacent outdoor kitchen furthers this entertainers delight allowing more opportunity for social events. The space and the aesthetic directly reflect the clients love for family and cooking.
