Birch and Basil DesignWe created this tranquil garden space by first installing stone flooring and repurposing the pea gravel that formerly filled the entire space. We then added new planters with bamboo and three kinds of Japanese maples in oversize pots. The stone, bamboo, stepping stones and gravel give it a very modern zen feel.

The design had to enhance the relationship with the bold, contemporary architecture and open up a dialogue with the wild green space beyond its boundaries. Our team designed a courtyard-like feel to make the space feel larger and to provide easy access to the shed/office space. The delicate water feature and fire pit are the perfect elements to provide a resort feel.

The creative design by Mike Long is an exemplar of responsible and resourceful design; blending old with new, with no compromise on style. The design uses Asian Blue Tumbled Limestone Setts for the water feature, rill and sunken seating area, with Brazilian Black Slate paving and Styleclad porcelain cladding to finish the contemporary look. Scaffold boards and poles are used for the bar, decking and pergola. Other salvaged materials include a rainwater harvester, pipework and taps and pallet timber, showing how the varied textures of weathered and worn materials can inject character to a space.

The Yard StylistThe color and style of this artificial turf perfectly mimics the look of a perfectly manicured back yard. The owners of this Queen Creek, AZ home chose to have the entire back yard covered with artificial turf. This was a clever option as nothing distracts the eye from the pergola, which is the yard’s centerpiece. The pergola flooring and the pavers leading from the home are all of the same style and tone, adding harmony. The turf is bordered with pavers containing decorative gravel. The addition of small shrubs and plants adds more greenery to balance out the entire yard.
Jesse York, Landscape DesignerThis project showcases a grand custom water feature, beginning with an impressive water wall that flows down through multiple basins, culminating in a vast pond. It is accentuated by several large concrete pads that appear to float over the water, serving as stepping stones to the network of pathways weaving through the yard. Modern and elegant materials were meticulously selected to complement the design, including sleek finishes that enhance the feature's contemporary aesthetic. To highlight the space and integrate it seamlessly with the natural surroundings, a variety of native grasses and plants were chosen, adding both beauty and ecological benefits to the landscape.

The front yard was leveled and converted into a play area for two small children and two large dogs. The client is very allergic to bees, so plants were selected with great care.

The plants blend beautifully into the native background with a mica speckled flagstone pathway and a flowing faux river of pink granite & intermixed with blue pacific juniper. All plants are a low maintenance and requires minimal watering accented by native pine straw.
