Harold Leidner Landscape ArchitectsCompleted in 2013, this stunning Italianate Mediterranean Villa is located in Highland Park, Texas and stands out in an already distinct architectural neighborhood. This project was designed and installed by Harold Leidner Landscape Architects. The expansive property features a lush landscaping, front motor court with travertine pavers and a luxury pool and spa. The pool area was designed to have a private resort feel to allow for entertaining. In addition to the spacious loggia and cabana spaces, the owner also wanted to have shade protection near the water, so a custom designed pavilion was built on the end of the pool to provide a shaded destination with cushion lounges that extend out into the water, flanked by fountains and adjacent to a fire bowl feature with a classic fire place surround. A truly elegant outdoor space for parties and entertaining with a sophisticated, modern flavor.

Henrietta Wighton Garden DesignThe garden space contains both paving and mass planting, incorporating different colours and textures.
Mass planting of lavender along the front wall complements the style of the house and the two trees, one on each side of the front path, were selected for their decorative bark and flowers, in addition to their function of providing shade and privacy. Two wide pots, painted with Porters Paints to take on a rusted iron appearance, were planted with a variety of succulents, and sited atop informally placed stones.

Santa Rita Landscaping, Inc.This backyard remodel expanded a claustrophobic patio, embraced an existing pool and spa, and added multiple living spaces throughout. From the covered outdoor kitchen & dining room to the firepit that the homeowners use nearly every night as they watch the Arizona sunset, this yard truly went from one of Tucson's forgotten yards to one of Tucson's embraced landscapes. Elizabeth McGreevyThis site had several issues. The most obvious was the never ending wind (this house is near the top of an exposed hill). The other issues were shallow bedrock, compacted "dirt" that wasn't allowing water to soak in, not enough useable outdoor entertaining space. There was an inherent awkwardness since the backyard was basically a side yard due to site orientation on a corner lot. The clients wanted privacy, a Tuscan style meets Texas Hill Country style garden with a water feature. To solve the issue of privacy and high winds, I designed two massed planting beds with layers of mostly evergreen, very drought tolerant plantings. We also added a low wall and gate at the entry to the main patio for extra privacy.
