Colours - which & where!?
Commentaires (0)This is the wall of my living room leading up to the stairs. We would like to paint a wall - hubby thinks wall with painting and chimney which protrudes from the wall. I'm inclined to think the back wall on either side of the chimney (more work). What do you think - we do have high ceilings... Now the second problem is the staircase...we will varnish the stairs the same colour as the parquet BUT...the banisters and upright were painted white at some point partially sanded and now look strange. I want to paint them because there is a lot of crevices and I think it will be too much work to sand it all down. We are leaning towards a darker colour - in the picture it looks black but in fact it's a a dark shade of blue. I was also thinking of F&Bs "Black Blue". Commentaires (84)bonjour, ils sont très bien les rideaux que vous avez trouvé, le bleu est bien clair et dans les tons pastels que nous utilisions beaucoup en Scandinavie. Le bleu assortie pour le coussin est parfait. Si vous souhaitez vous rapprocher du style Scandinave il faut choisir entre rideaux et voilage comme on ne mets jamais le deux, beaucoup trop lourd pour nous intérieurs ou on essaye toujours garder une luminosité maximale. En Tunisie vous avez le problème contraire donc il faudra s'adapter et trouver une équilibre entre le style Scandinave et vous besoins. Si vous souhaitez avoir une voilage je conseillerai vivement un blanc uni, sans rayure! votre tableau bleu et jaune sera très bien avec l'ensemble, il est très beau!... Commentaires (1)Hello genevieve Lepine Personnally, I'm more concerned about the red wall. If it will be treated in white, that's already a great step. The fireplace, staying the way it is doesn't seem too much of an issue. I'm not really too fan of glossy paint, either, especially on fireplaces. Painting over tile takes somewhat of a technical mastery, otherwise any missed movement can cause a scratch. If you have heat coming from the flames, the paint should not budge. Keeping the wood flooring, beige "faux stone" tiles and white walls allows many style choices. Have you looked into the work of Studio McGee? They alway keep the space neutral and add contrasting details. (Of course in my reference images, the fireplaces are white...why not? but perhaps not glossy). I'd replace the recessed lighting fixtures with white ones, as well. good luck, Lynn... Voir plus

with grey and white stripes so it's not too dark.

il y a 9 ansOne of the most soothing and beautiful offices I ever saw was done completely in deep forest green.....walls, trim, cabinetry and then the lamps, also deep green with black shades just gave pools of light like jewelry around the room. So I say do it deep dark and soothing to work any time of day night.

il y a 8 ansFinally went for it, and I love it :) I still have a ton of unpacking and decorating to do (I don't have anything up on the walls yet, and I need some textiles - and possibly a small white arm chair with ottoman? - to cozy things up a bit), but the nearly-monochromatic look has actually made for a very calming and uncluttered work space. I'm excited to finish the room up! Thanks for the encouragement! (and advice - I've especially been trying to incorporate some additional lighting throughout, even if its a generic Ikea look for now ;-) )
