Need Backsplash Help & Advice

We are moving into our first house soon, and I believe we are going to add subway tile backsplash. I will be removing the 4 in back splash that matches the counter. However, I am having a tough time deciding where to end the back splash since the counter wraps around a corner to a bar.

Any advice on if I should end it in a corner and leave the 4 in, or wrap it around to the bar and put a couple open shelves above the bar area?

I would recommend stopping at the corners. Adding tile to the area above the bar extends the kitchen into your breakfast / sitting area too much. That wall is a lovely transition from kitchen to the rest of your home, and you could still put some open shelves up. Backsplash tile is a great way to add another dimension to your kitchen, but should be thought of as an accent for your layout, not an integral component. I would also suggest a solid color subway tile since your counter is so full of life already. And not white, since your cabinets are already white. Cheers!

I agree, stop at the corners. We did glass subway tiles for our back splash and we love them.

I see your point, It does look ugly :) Since its a rental apartment, do you have the authorization to remove it ? Because unfortunately, you can't put down vinyle over lino, it will not work (and its not because of the uneven floor). You can remove the lino and put another one, less ugly. It can be nice actually :) http://designmag.fr/design-dinterieur/lino-sol.html You are speaking about sticker, its quite cheap, why not trying and see if it fits with an uneven floor ? Although Im not sure that it will look pretty. Last solution, you can paint the lino, it will not last forever but it could be nice. Ask for expert advice to by the appropriate painting pots.

Good evening Caroline, I took a look at your site. Your paintings remind me alot of a old friend of mine who knew Jackson Pollack a long time ago... Amaranth Ehrehnalt One thing I couldn't find is the size of some of your paintings, small or large. I clicked on small format, we see the painting and details of the painting, but few with the size. Same with the furniture...would help some future clients to know the size. Good luck, an artists life is hard, especially promoting one's work...hopefully there are more people who care for actual art than just wall paper... Thanks for sharing your site, Lynn

l'espace doit être utilisé pour faire un bar à café ! je me retrouve avec la tablette directement sous mon nez et donc mon champ de vision est affecter si je souhaite utiliser ce comptoir pour préparer le déjeuner....
