Kitchen feature wall

So we moved into our home almost 2 years ago now and are looking to revive our kitchen a little. The original owners put up some Orla Kiely wallpaper (see picture) which although I've grown to like, it's not really my taste.

Any good ideas as to what to with this wall? I was thinking perhaps a dark grey colour (the kitchen is pretty big - the photos don't really do it justice) with the kitchen island painted a lighter grey. One other point to make is that we're having the utility room done up and have chosen mid-grey cabinets; I'm not sure if painting the kitchen wall grey would be a bit too samey or would actually bring it all together quite well. I'm not averse to wallpaper but I'm thinking paint may be better and stand the test of time more!

The cabinets have fairly recently been repainted to warm-ish white although they look fairly similar to this photo. Any ideas gratefully received!

I think painting yes - perhaps an off white/grey that you can get mixed at the shop and get testers to check? Or indeed white and then add x 3 paintings? Can I ask about the repainting of the cupboards - what did you use?

Bonjour à tous, Je crois que l'opinion de personne ne peut en effet avoir raison car celui qui estime certaines couleurs plus valables estime nécessairement d’autres couleurs moins valables. Donc, je pense qu'il est vraiment inutile d’essayer de convaincre quiconque que la salle d'attente soit à son goût, ou bien qu'elle soit bonne ou mauvaise. Les goûts et les couleurs ne se discutent pas et les couleurs ne se choisissent pas selon des critères rationnels. Le choix des couleurs n'était pas un hasard mais longuement étudié (le bleu, le gris, le jaune, le blanc se marient super bien ensemble) et le changement du parquet changera le rendu et donnera un cachet plus zen. Le rendu des patients concernant la salle d'attente en particulier et du cabinet en général est excellent, ils se sentent très bien dedans en la trouvant très chaleureuse et accueillante. Je crois qu'être dedans ou qu'apercevoir uniquement les photos est complètement différent surtout que les photos sont de mauvaise qualité prisent par un téléphone portable. Je vous remercie.

Bonjour! Is your ceiling unique to the kitchen or continues for another room? You can use the ceiling to add color If just the kitchen. A medium intensity color would warm up the space without making somber. You can also choose a wall as an accent, keeping the rest very pale. Tones of yellow would be nice. See the Benjamin color trends for 2016. A lot of whites accentuated with colors. One room has yellow, but you don't have to go so intense. Also see on houzz "clored" ceilings. You can also use our window frames to add contrast painting them a darker shade of gray or charcoal. It gives character, definition and class Sorry i dont have photos to demontrate at the moment (problem with iphone:( but you can always find on houzz) :) Hope this helps!

Bonjour! J'ai déjà fait une publication à ce sujet récemment, mais je voulais apporter quelques précisions. Je désire installer un dosseret de céramique dans ma cuisine. Tout d'abord, je vais enlever la bande de céramique foncée existante puisque je la trouve trop foncée et trop chargée. Il y a une rampe DEL sous mes armoires. Enfin, la cuisine, la salle à manger et le salon sont à aire ouverte et les couleurs sont neutres (blanc, gris, beige, brun, noir). Dans les photos, vous verrez aussi les chaises et la table que je vais avoir. Sur la dernière photo, vous verrez un espace vide entre la cuisine et la salle à manger. Je ne suis pas encore sûr de ce que je ferai de cet endroit. Je n'y mettrai pas de meubles, mais je pensais à y mettre des cadres ou un tableau noir. Merci!

l'espace doit être utilisé pour faire un bar à café ! je me retrouve avec la tablette directement sous mon nez et donc mon champ de vision est affecter si je souhaite utiliser ce comptoir pour préparer le déjeuner....

rc rc, we used V33 renovation paint from B&Q. I was dubious to begin with but actually it looks really good. You can also clean it with washing up liquid/all purpose cleaner so it's really easy to look after and still looks fresh.

Hello,

In my opinion, if you paint the wall in same mid-grey it will bring all together as you say. You have a beautiful skylight so you have lots of light in your kitchen. If you decide painting the wall in a mid-grey, my advice is to paint the island in the same white as the rest of the cabinetry. Also your table it will look better next to a mid-grey wall.

If you do decide to go for the darker grey colour, a largish heavier-framed mirror could look great on that wall, and would bounce tons of light into the room from the roof-light.
