Front porch ideas
Hello. We have a blah early 90s home. I want to modernise it but I'm finding it very difficult to achieve. After 10 years living here I couldn't handle the cream coloured window frames, eaves, garage doors and THOSE Roman columns! So I've decided to paint all the cream bits white. Work is still in progress as I'm DYI-ing (pun intended).
Tight budget so can't go all out and remove those horrid columns (they are load bearing), render the bricks or paint the roof.
I do want to change the entrance tiles as current ones are cracked and are dangerously slippery. Will probably lay new tiles over the old ones if possible. What tile will suit? I like the look of timber, but don't want to maintain real timber. Would timber-look laminate tiles work here? What colour? Other ideas I was thinking of was stone-look like slate, marble or sandstone? I need help with this to compliment what I have as I have no idea what style my house is in its current state.
We are also getting a new modern wide front door, wooden stain, no side panel. The concrete driveway will eventually be painted a dark grey colour I think.
Lastly, should I paint the bricks?
Any helpful advice will be greatly appreciated!

Pourquoi ne pas investir dans un second pot identique au premier et le modifier un peu: découper la fibre de verre (se protéger les yeux et porter des vêtements longs!) à la meuleuse pour incorporer le regard EP dedans et riveter un nouveau fond dans le pot... Au pire un second bambou en pot placé sur cales à l'intérieur fera illusion... Et vous cacherez en partie la descente d'eau pluviales! C'est ce que j'aurais fait! Sinon faites revenir l'entrepreneur qui a osé laisser ce regard apparent!!... Voir plusThat one transitional piece that must be perfect.
Commentaires (0)I have a very well built set of furniture my Father made - so for the emotional reasons I will not give it up. Then comes the BUT - it is pale and made out of solid birch with absolutely beautiful flaming, swirling type of wood - and I love dark almost black, black and some grey for my furniture. I like silver over gold, latter of which I will not accept. It is crime to paint wood - generally speaking especially when it is beautiful - and so I will not do. The set of furniture includes a bit over 3 m long very near ceiling height book selves with center area designed for the TV and a stereo.. electronics. It has its own lights. There is section with led-glass and other with wood doors - some open shelves. Down there is a bit larger base with drawers. Then there exists an additional extension which can also be set else where in a room. There is 1 sqm large a coffee table high enough to work as a laptop table with structural design and a hidden base compartment for a home safe (how ever not good for permanent work table - no way). I designed the table top for it and made it when I was a teen. The design includes glass cover. In addition I have a nicely sized, bit larger than usually lamp table with 3 drawers. I designed the legs for that - so they are not common type while still simple. They are more narrow at the ends than at the top. They have silver handles and traditional framed centers for the doors. The pale birch of the doors in this particular object found online is exactly what my birch is like - tone included... I like the black legs on that. I do like Art Deco - but something about this object just does not work. I need more options and ideas. This might be just the first and most important piece of furniture to get because... I prefer much more things like these.. Please help me to find that small, but not too small a piece that can unite well enough dark and the existing pale birch. Thank you.... Commentaires (84)bonjour, ils sont très bien les rideaux que vous avez trouvé, le bleu est bien clair et dans les tons pastels que nous utilisions beaucoup en Scandinavie. Le bleu assortie pour le coussin est parfait. Si vous souhaitez vous rapprocher du style Scandinave il faut choisir entre rideaux et voilage comme on ne mets jamais le deux, beaucoup trop lourd pour nous intérieurs ou on essaye toujours garder une luminosité maximale. En Tunisie vous avez le problème contraire donc il faudra s'adapter et trouver une équilibre entre le style Scandinave et vous besoins. Si vous souhaitez avoir une voilage je conseillerai vivement un blanc uni, sans rayure! votre tableau bleu et jaune sera très bien avec l'ensemble, il est très beau!... Get a carpenter to square off the columns with a timber surround.
Do not paint the brick. This will then be ongoing maintenance.
Add big pots with flowering plants or succulents at the base of each new square support.
Tidy up the garden along the verandah with a garden bed.
Look into painting the floor tiles with a non slip clear paint. Example: Tread Rite-Slip Resistant Coating.
