I have a very well built set of furniture my Father made - so for the emotional reasons I will not give it up. Then comes the BUT - it is pale and made out of solid birch with absolutely beautiful flaming, swirling type of wood - and I love dark almost black, black and some grey for my furniture. I like silver over gold, latter of which I will not accept. It is crime to paint wood - generally speaking especially when it is beautiful - and so I will not do. The set of furniture includes a bit over 3 m long very near ceiling height book selves with center area designed for the TV and a stereo.. electronics. It has its own lights. There is section with led-glass and other with wood doors - some open shelves. Down there is a bit larger base with drawers. Then there exists an additional extension which can also be set else where in a room. There is 1 sqm large a coffee table high enough to work as a laptop table with structural design and a hidden base compartment for a home safe (how ever not good for permanent work table - no way). I designed the table top for it and made it when I was a teen. The design includes glass cover. In addition I have a nicely sized, bit larger than usually lamp table with 3 drawers. I designed the legs for that - so they are not common type while still simple. They are more narrow at the ends than at the top. They have silver handles and traditional framed centers for the doors. The pale birch of the doors in this particular object found online is exactly what my birch is like - tone included... I like the black legs on that. I do like Art Deco - but something about this object just does not work. I need more options and ideas. This might be just the first and most important piece of furniture to get because... I prefer much more things like these.. Please help me to find that small, but not too small a piece that can unite well enough dark and the existing pale birch. Thank you.

Good evening Caroline, I took a look at your site. Your paintings remind me alot of a old friend of mine who knew Jackson Pollack a long time ago... Amaranth Ehrehnalt One thing I couldn't find is the size of some of your paintings, small or large. I clicked on small format, we see the painting and details of the painting, but few with the size. Same with the furniture...would help some future clients to know the size. Hello, I suggest that you replace the countertop, especially if you don't appreciate the former marble one. I think it would be sturdier if you move the dishwasher closer to the sink and the small cabinet (which is presently in between the sink and the dishwasher) to the left of the dishwasher, Your new counter will be more solid. The cabinets are Dark petrol blue? Your photos are relative close-ups, a larger view would be more helpful if you wish some suggestions, a budget, as well. Hello O. K The plan you have shared shows loads of potential. You need 3 bedrooms? You've got 3 bedrooms. The kitchen and "office" should be able to become quite a stunning kitchen with an island. (how are the walls and flooring? what's on the ceiling?) If you need a large living room, it appears that there is a very nice one and the dining room should be able to receive a round table, but you've not shared any dimensions to confirm that possibility (nor the size of the table wanted, nor the number of diners to receive). A theoretical proposition is, however, not really useful in this case. Without photos that allow a chronological analysis of what is existing and could have been added, without understanding the qualities of the existing detailing, it would be unfortunate to demolish fireplaces or walls with moldings, just to "optimize" a plan. An historical apartment loses value when it is redone without a certain amount of respectful preservation. That doesn't mean that you can't have a great mix of historical and contemporary, but we don't have enough information. Nothing about the bones of the space, or if you want / expect specific ideas for this apartmement. Try posting some photos? If you organize built-in storage with details like benches and hidden doors (to the guest toilet, for example) your corridor can become a gallery with integrated but hiden service spaces. It is not advisable to modify the room definitions (a bedroom in the kitchen, for example) due to acoustical issues. We're about to begin renovations of a smaller (106m²) apartment in an Art Deco building. Lots of acoustical issues and big sujects about insulation, or the lack thereof. I think you should be able to have an amazing apartment, if you find the right architect. Good luck, Lynn
