The homeowners of a 1930s Tudor in East Atlanta Village envisioned a colorful renovation that blended original charm with modern updates. The creative couple, who cherish antiques and quirky collectibles, aimed to preserve the home's historic layout and architectural elements. The overall color palette and aesthetic was inspired by their grandmother's fine China collection.
The renovation encompassed the kitchen, mudroom, breakfast nook, living room, bar, powder room, and primary bathroom. Copper Sky Design + Remodel placed emphasis on integrating color, patterns, and specialty details to honor the home's history while reflecting the homeowners' unique style.
Key design choices included retaining the functional galley kitchen, featuring a dishrack over the sink to display the clients' depression-era glass and antique China. Floral cutouts on cabinet doors and refrigerator panels, reminiscent of the 1930s, were incorporated. A scalloped built-in cabinet in the butler’s pantry, designed to fit a niche previously housing an original piece, ties into the brass scalloped hood in the kitchen. The mudroom and butler’s pantry cabinets also feature a scallop motif.
Custom mosaic floor tiles, typical of the 1930s, required meticulous planning and execution. The 2” hexagon mosaic tile pattern in the kitchen, mudroom, and butler’s pantry was digitally designed and hand-laid on site. The primary bathroom's wall tile pattern demanded precision, resulting in a symmetrical and stunning design.
The primary bathroom was expanded to include a Japanese-style soaking tub and a bidet within its modest 10’ x 9’ size. The powder room, though small, is vibrant with “Dinosauria” wallpaper, Tiffany-style lighting, and a square mosaic tile floor.
This thoughtful renovation preserved the Tudor's historical integrity while infusing it with the homeowners' vibrant aesthetic, creating a harmonious blend of past and present.

Formal home entry blends traditional architectural detail with bold, contemporary elegance. A pair of dramatic gold fringe chandeliers hang high above a round metal entry table with a beautiful chinoiserie vase with fresh flowers, a modern woven topped entry bench and a soft blue patterned rug beneath, an inviting moment that sets the tone for the rest of the home.
On the walls are a sumptuous neutral grasscloth, charcoal painted trim, and a vintage style bowl of fruit artwork flanked by sleek brass and glass sconces. Add a dramatic charcoal painted staircase and millwork with architectural gravitas to the modern foyer decor for a beautifully designed and grand entry to this home.

This was a dream project! The clients purchased this 1880s home and wanted to renovate it for their family to live in. It was a true labor of love, and their commitment to getting the details right was admirable. We rehabilitated doors and windows and flooring wherever we could, we milled trim work to match existing and carved our own door rosettes to ensure the historic details were beautifully carried through.
Every finish was made with consideration of wanting a home that would feel historic with integrity, yet would also function for the family and extend into the future as long possible. We were not interested in what is popular or trendy but rather wanted to honor what was right for the home.

Small Lanterns in an Antique Zinc finish give this foyer a unique look and feel. The hexagon floor tile brings texture and a warm environment to the space.

This 6-foot long console is great for the entry with storage drawers for keys and things. The basket holds the dog toys. The mirror is turn-of-the-century and it's paired with an oyster shell frame made by the owner.

The Hedgerow door handle is part of the Hedgerow collection. The style is very organic and nature inspired. The collection offers the designer a complete line of hardware from the front door through to the interior doors and on to cabinet pulls and bathroom accessories. Cast in solid bronze in the lost wax method, a casting process that allows us to create exceptionally high quality heirloom caliber pieces. All of our work is designed by Martin Pierce and made in Los Angeles. We also gladly work with designers (where the project permits) to create truly original custom pieces that allow the designer or architect to add their artistic signature to that special project.

A 1,500 square foot condo in the first factory conversion on the Northside of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The building, constructed in 1906, housed a paper-dye manufacturer until the late 1980s. Exposed sprinklers and beams, 15’ ceilings, and replicas of the original windows all honor the initial architecture of the building. We juxtaposed the industrial features of the condo with comfortable, soft furnishings instead of the sleek and modern designs that one usually finds in lofts like these. We chose to leave the living room light and open to maximize the 8’ tall hopper windows and the views of the East River and Manhattan sky-line beyond. A small entry way offered the chance to use fun and graphic wallpaper. The office easily transforms into a guest bedroom; the secretary desk folds in and the couch opens up like an envelope, revealing a queen-size bed. Photos by Eric Morales.
